Menlo Game This Friday

Katz will have more of his own players playing this season, so I'm expecting a lot of improvement. Seeing as we are playing Menlo we obviously won't be able to judge just how good or bad this team is, but at least we will get a sneek peak of what we will be seeing this season. Only an exhibition so the W won't mean anything, but it will be good to be back in the swing of hoops season again.

Go Hornets!

Anyone go to this game or listen to it? Who was in the starting line-up and how did they do? Did Katz get a lot of playing time for the newcomers? Which freshmen played? Nothing up on Hornetsports yet, I assume it will be posted sometime tomorrow.
:?: :?: :?:

Here is the Hornetsports Menlo write-up:

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Junior Antoine Proctor scored a team-high 19 points, and the Hornets led the final 37:03 of the contest to defeat Menlo, 83-65, in a men’s basketball exhibition game Friday evening at the Nest.

Of the 10 Sacramento State players that appeared in tonight’s game, seven were making their debuts in a Hornet uniform. That included Proctor, who finished with 19 points, two rebounds and a game-high four steals in 25 minutes. He converted on 7-of-9 field goal attempts and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.

Joining Proctor in double figures for the Hornets were returners Sultan Toles-Bey (16 points, five rebounds and two assists) and John Dickson (13 points in 18 minutes), as well as newcomer Zach Nelson (10 points, seven rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals). Those four combined for 58 of the team’s 83 points.

Take if for what it’s worth, Menlo is a far weaker opponent and I am guessing Katz played everyone so that they can get a feel for the game speed. I don’t know who the starting 5 were but guessing by the box score it is:
PG - Toles-Bey
SG - Carbajal
G/F - Jackson
F - Duro
C- A’ND

Proctor, Nelson, and Dickson had a lot of playing time as well. I’m hoping to have some sort of a season preview out this week.

Even more embarrassing the Academy of Art Urban Knight players were wearing berets and painting frocks! The mighty Division 3 Urban Knights were 0-26 last season.
