men's basketball roster changes

No A. Smith @ forward anymore. - Really enjoyed his athleticism around the hoop. This makes me sad.

10 guards, 5 forwards and 0 centers on this season's roster. Call it a hunch but I predict run and gun this season. 9 players who have never seen live-game court time for NAU. This is going to be interesting.
 
Say what????????? :o :o :o :o :o :o :o I wonder what happened. Josh Lepley aslo left. What is going on with those guys. We sure get a lot of turnover at NAU it seems. Shakila Boler was supposed to be the best female basketball player ever recruited at NAU and didn't even last one season. Staff needs to hold on to their players.

Oh well, I guess it's better to work with players that really want to be at NAU. It will definitely by an interesting season. Maybe Adras wants a Phoenix Suns type of team..... hmmm I wouldn't mind that :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

After further review, Ryan Schaefer (forward transfer from U of Portland) isn't on the roster anymore either.

According to this morning's article in the Arizona DailySun, Gabe Rogers is out for two or more months with a torn labrum (fibrocartilaginous injury) in his right shoulder. That hurts more than the other two issues. Crap!

King - My guess is injuries, home-sickness, focus on academics (my old dorm neighbor at NAU was a football player majoring in engineering and decided his focus need be off the field) and playing time account for the bulk of athletic transfers. But coaching style conflicts have to result in some as well. I remembered that Shakila Boler was a top rated point guard signee by NAU womens hoops. I just figured she was red-shirting last year? That stinks also. Gonna be a really young group on the court for mens hoops this season. Womens hoops looks to have more experience and returning talent this time around.

With him out this could be a nightmare of a season. Let's hope he's back by conference. Even with him back I have a feeling it will be a tough year for us. Miss Cam Jones already :cry: :cry:
 
Gabe is a big loss, hopefully his recovery goes well. I guess James Douglas has been playing well in the preseason, and Danny Cheek seems like he will be a very good player... they are going to need to rely on those guys a lot early on!

Just checked the roster. Man...only one guy at 6'8. 3 at 6'7 and one at 6'6. Those are our post guys. This is going to be a very small team. Lots of guards though. Hopefully all can shoot the 3 and we can overwhelm the competition from behind the arch :thumb: :thumb:

No mas Jywrell Wilson...I heard Mitch Strohman mention something about that on the radio coverage of one of last week's games but didn't catch details.

You can't tease us with a passing comment like that, sky3. Say it all or say nothing. :nod:
