Certainly not a surprise, Bill, when you win only 7 games and then lose your top three players. I think this will be an interesting team, if not particularly successful in the win-loss column. Nobody has seen the new kids play, and really it will be their team. Evans says they're going to play fast and use a lot of players. They don''t appear to have much upfront, so there will be nights when they get molested under the basket. But it looks like they have some shooters and playmakers, at least based on JC performance. How that translates, well we'll see.
ISU desperately needs a new arena to kickstart this program. The Post Register did an article this week on the topic, and Jeff Tingey was quoted as saying a new arena was "still a dream." That doesn't sound like the two potential donors he talked about earlier are any closer to committing. In the meantime, the University of Utah opened its $36 million PRACTICE facility yesterday. (Insert Alan Iverson "practice!" rant here.). Such is the growing gap between the haves and have-nots.
