Also a couple of WCC voters and Utah Valley's Hunsaker. BYU in there and UVU. How does BYU feel about being an equal to UVU? Maybe they start playing? :stir:

I wonder how aggie fans feel about UVU getting votes and USU getting none :yikes:

According to the list of conferences that are mid-major, WAC does not qualify for votes, so aggie fans can not really complain.

I could have sworn the wac was a mid major? I remember seeing USU on the mid major poll before :?:

you are correct. usu was a top 25 (or top 10 which is all it was the first 5 yrs or so) regular when they were in the big west. when they joined the wac in 2005 they no longer have been part of this poll. so its us, suu, uvu and byu.

15-20 is about where i was expecting to see us. we have a lot of good players but to move up we will have to earn it. we havent had the kind of consistency that some of these other schools to start out in the top 10 which is fine. we just cant start out losing 3 of our first 5 like last yr and drop off.

i would love to know who was the one coach that voted byu #1.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how the MW is considered a major conference. UNLV, SDSU, and New Mexico are consistently good, but who else? WCC has Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Santa Clara, and now BYU who are also consistently good and they are a Mid-Major.

WAC shouldn't be considered a major. They are a 1 bid league.

the poll is all the conferences that have no football or no FBS football except the sunbelt, if that means anything. the wac & mwc have never been part of this poll. wac will probably get added to the poll soon especially if usu is gone to the mwc. you take away usu from the wac and the rpi falls off a cliff.

Then I wonder why Atlantic 10 is not in that poll. They don't have have football in their conference.

ive always wondered how/why they chose the conferences they have. unless back then it was just that the wac was good, mwc didnt exist and wcc was very weak? it would have been 1998.

saw this email from the poll to an aggie fan:

Thank you for the email. For the past 13 seasons we have not considered
the Atlantic 10, C-USA, Mountain West or WAC to be mid-major leagues.

More importantly, while some in the media do, those conferences do NOT
consider themselves to be mid-major leagues.

All of the leagues included in the Mid-Major Top 25 have embraced the
Mid-Major poll for the past 13 seasons.

The WAC used to be a multiple bid league - the past 3-4 years they have been a 1 bid conference. Thus, the WAC should be a mid-major and included in this poll. Here again we see delusional beliefs of Aggie fans. They think they are a much bigger deal then they really are. Their football team is not that good and won't go to a bowl game again (and they are in one of the bottom 3 conferences). Their basketball team wins 20+ games a year, but has 1 or 2 quality wins a year and always loses in the post season (1-17 doesn't cut it).
Weber realizes that we are from a small conference and from a 1-bid league. We accept that we are small time in football (compared to programs like Texas, Auburn, Ohio State, etc.). We measure success on how we compete against our peers (e.g., Big Sky opponents and similar programs).
Aggie fans must be smoking some good stuff up there in Cache Valley :silly:

The WAC is worthless.

The WAC thinks they are still a MAJOR conference? How can a one bid league think they are part of the "majors?" I think it is hilarious reading about how WAC fans perceive the Sky, yet their only hoping of surviving as a conference is to hope that SKY teams decide to make the lateral (drop down) move to the WAC.

For our routine Aggie supporters (and occassional troll), I really hope that the MW comes through and invites USU into their league. It is really sad that USU is stuck in the WAC and being compared with Idahlol and New Mexico State.

the aggie fans were actaully asking why they are not in the poll. they were not saying they are too good for it.

also the mid-major cant just change the conferneces in the poll every yr because certain conferences have ups and downs.

Aggie fans might not be, but I'm sure other WAC team fans think they are too good for it. If nothing else, Benson thinks he is too good for it.
