Mid Season All Conference Picks?

Since we just wrapped up the first half of the conference season I thought it would be fun to see what everyone thinks is the all conference team. Here are my picks

MVP- Jamar Montana. I thought about a few other guys, but he is my pick. He does everything well. I think he is more valuable to Montana than Cherry is.

Defensive Player of the Year- Cherry Montana. Not even close. He is by far the best defensive player in the conference.

Newcomer of the year- Huff North Dakota. This was a tough one, There was about 3-4 other guys I was thinking of, but Huff won me over.

Freshman of the Year- Jois Eastern Washington. Too bad he plays on a crappy team, because he is going to be special. He can rebound, shot, play defense, has great post game.

Fist Team All Conference
Jamar Montana
Cherry Montana
Berry Weber State
Bamforth Weber State
Huff North Dakota
Jois Eastern Washington

Second Team All Conference
Ward Montana
Tresnak Weber State
Moon Montana State
Barden Northern Colorado
Undrah Northern Colorado
Russell Northern Arizona

Honorable Mention
Rodgers Northern Arizona
Richardson Weber State
Otis Weber State
Bolomboy Weber State
Blount Montana State
Anderson North Dakota
Garitty Sacramento State
Dickson Sacramento State
Veteo Sacramento State
Moore Portland State
Huir Southern Utah
Stevenette Southern Utah

the only one I would add is Jordan Gregory as a borderline honorable mention. when he hasn't been injured he's been lights out from the line and very good from behind the arc, and a huge part of winning a lot of games.

Great job.. I agree with everything, but I would put Tresnak and Ward on 1st team, and put Berry and Vois 2nd team. I also think Gregory is a shoe in for honorable. Good post, and very accurate..

Just curious, does Huff qualify as a "newcomer" under the definition, since he played for North Dakota last year -- just not in the Big Sky? If not, Russell of NAU is the hands down winner of this awared.

Agreed.

Surprisingly, the league's bigs have been better than advertised. Personally, I think Tresnak is the best offensive big in the league and has really improved on the defensive and rebounding side too. Yet, far too often, defensively, he allows opposing teams bigs to have career days. Yet, his block on Veteto was huge in securing a WSU victory over Sac, at home, a few weeks ago.

After Tres and Ward, Barden seem to be the next best bigs in the league, but Max Jacobsen, Aaron Moore, and Veteto each have shown moments of greatness. I was surprised by MSU's big man Paul E, and their 4, Flavian Davis. Weber was taken behind the woodshed by them, and abused. They out toughed us. Huge reason why the Cats lost. Weber lost the toughness battle and the rebounding battle. Weber needs an assistant who can develop out bigs better on the defensive end. Andy Jensen would have been a great addition. Too bad he decided to be a head coach at a JC in Wyomin. I don't think he is even in basketball now.

Oh Garrity and Stevenette are far better than honorable mention. But where to put them?

Also, Gabe Rogers...hmmm...he did have 35 points on Saturday.
