Mike Kramer on KTIK in Boise

Yesterday, Nov. 23, Mike Kramer was interviewed on KTIK here in Boise. During the interviewing process, President Vailas and Jeff Tingey asked him many questions about his staff members and former players getting into trouble, and they both concluded that this wouldn't be a factor in the hiring process, because Kramer didn't have a lot to do with all of this.

Also, in order for the program to get headed in the right direction, Kramer said he'd like to find a great quarterback, because "a team's fortunes ride and succeed on the strength and ability of a quarterback to make great decisions play after play after play." And he added that ISU doesn't have much of a great QB heritage since the days of Mike Machurek and Paul Peterson, and that we need to return to QB play at that level.

Kramer also said that other than Don Bailey, the names of the other assistants will be announced in the coming days, as many of these coaches will disconnect themselves from their programs that they're with right now. And that the season hasn't ended yet for many of the schools that the coaches are associated with.

He also said that six times a year ISU plays in perfect passing conditions, so they plan to pass quite a bit and hopefully score a lot of points.

As for my opinion, I'm thrilled with this hire, and I think there's lots of quality players out there who would love to play for him. These are exciting times!! So let's rally around Coach Kramer and empty out our billfolds, checking and savings accounts, etc. and give ISU athletics what they need in order that our leader, Mike Kramer, can get the job done.

You can't watch it but you can listen to it online. Just go to ktik.com, then go to 'on demand', and then press the IST archive icon, and from there go to Nov. 23 on the calendar and press 'IST 3:00 - 6:00', and his interview starts at about the 1:33 mark into the program.
