Mindset for this game

I think Weber is just as good if not better that um in all aspects of the game. They have equal if not better athletes and coaching. This game will be determined by mental toughness. I think there are 3 mental keys to this game:

1. Ignore the crowd. Weber has already played at um last year and at CSU and WYO this year. A crowd that cheers and makes noise is nothing new. They will cheer and make noise, but that is all it is - just noise.

2. Don't worry about the officials - they will make a bad call or two (probably on both teams). If you start worrying about the officials and that you are being treated unfairly, you will lose concentration on making a play. In the end, you must play to a level where 1 or 2 bad calls won't hurt you.

3. Don't get too hyped up or excited for this game. I have seen many teams play too hard and try to force things and thus are too tense to execute. The team needs to be "up" for this game, but not too excited or hyped up.

Weber has the capability to win this game. I think they are equal if not superior, but must have the right mindset. This is why I am glad we have a veteran coach to prepare them for this week.

I agree, control what we can control.....Coach Mac will have his staff and his players ready for this game. Let's get to Missoula, get the win, and get out of Missoula, plain and simple.

Just noise measured by ESPN to equal a departing jet.

2. Don't worry about the officials.

We both have to beat them - every game.

3. Don't get too hyped up or excited for this game.

One thing that contributes to Griz arrogance is that every Friday paper in every town hosting us you'll see: "Of course we'll have many more fans tomorrow", and "this is always the game of the year", and "it's time they went down". You go from resenting the bullseye to embracing it.

LOL "its just a crowd" right i mean come on its only as loud as a jet. and its only the biggest home field adv. of the FCS. one thing is sure...this will be the most hostile crowd WSU has seen this year...possibly even last year.(you did play here once). ya notice its always the teams that lose and are iggnorant
are the ones to say the crowd doesnt matter.. So many teams have said its the loudest crowd they have ever seen and all of them say....ya it was hard to keep our emotions in check and it def got in my head a few times. I believe one Tony Romo was one of those cases.

The crowd does make a big dif, we can make the same case in basketball. We are 38-13 at home vs UM and we have beaten UM regularly lately in Missoula too, no home crowd like they do in football. UM is hanging on to keep their winning record in Missoula against us which is in jeopardy, but this is football season, sorry for bringing up hoop which by the way starts on Thursday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
