Montana gets QB transfer from Oregon

Prediction: he might get on the field. Probably a bust. The guy was not very good at Oregon. He got beat out by a decent but very one dimensional QB. I imagine MU got QBs as good or better waiting in the wings.

If he was the #2 QB coming out of spring ball, I would guess that there is more to the story than just PT. He may have grade issues, legal issues, etc.

Truth is he does not have legal or grade issues. However does not fit the Oregon system well. He is as mobile as Cole B was. Maybe a little faster....he is 6ft 6. He lead Oregon to the 2007 sun bowl win and also was undefeated as a starter at oregon. He was not as mobile as the starting Qb and the Speed Option needed a faster QB. You can watch his highlights if you search Justin Roper on youtube. He is pretty good, He will be montana's starter 100%. i think Larson will now be at WR again, and then Kemp who runs a 4.4 will be a slot and side back with maybe some wildcat O. word on the street is that we are getting 2 JC D. ends too. should beef us up at the d-line. So i think UM and Weber will be an epic game!!!

One thing about UM is it doesn't matter who their QB is, their all good and every season ends about the same. Even with Swogger it was no diff than regular FCS QBs. That must be nice!

Just imagine if Montana was actually as good as their fans think they are. If the Grizz lived up to their fans hype then they would be beating Alabama in the sugar bowl, as it is they are too damn scared to play against any D1 programs at all.

I've got to agree with catcat, even though it really hurts, UM always ends up with a winning season no matter who their QB is. Also, I think Roper is pretty damn good. I concur with Mtgrizfan, he definitely doesn't fit the Oregon system, but will fit in nicely in Missula. He had some really nice games as a Duck, and I'm sure he will be a huge addition to the Grizz. OCT 31 is going to be a great game!!! I hope I can get some tickets, this time, preferably, behind my teams bench.

However, one never knows about DI transfers (my disclaimer). UM has had great luck with theirs, I remember Drew Miller (transfered from the Y). He went right in and helped the Grizz automatically. While ours have been pretty...well...pathetic. I don't even want to bring up the Alabama duder. However, no worries for the CATS... HIGGINS is the MAN!!! Toone....

It is pretty rare that a QB who transfers from a BCS school to a FCS is very successful. There are a ton of QB transfers who "wash out" compared to those who are successful. For example, Jimmy Barnes and Bryan Waggener (Florida St. to Nor. Colorado). However, it the Montana system, it doesnt matter who the stiff at QB is, all he has to do is hand the ball off and throw some screen passes. He doesnt have to be very mobile or have a great arm.

PS Tal, it is ok to talk some smack and not worry about feelings. You do not have to be politically correct!!

If he were near as good as advertized by UM fans Oregon would find a way to keep him. Lets face it the real reason why he's leaving is because he not good enough to justfy running two types of offense with two QBS. I expect an average to good QB who will do ok in UM's boring offense.
