Interesting hire indeed. Choate was at 3 different places in the last 4 years with his D1 coaching experience going back to 2002. A lot of that time was spent as part of Petersen’s staff at Boise and most recently at UDub.
Interwebs are saying Andy Hill was MSU’s top choice but he declined the offer when the new Mizzou HC retained him. Sounds like much of MSU’s staff is applying to remain at MSU under Choate.
Really good hire by MSU. Tons of time in the Northwest. A lot of time with Peterson with the Boise connection. I would expect him to pick up a few of those Boise type coaches. Pease a Montana Grizz Alum was just let go from UW. Could see him getting something bigger but could be his OC? He will look for a couple of Cali recruiters.
Montana goes down big in Fargo 37-6 in the FCS playoffs.
Big Sky champs SUU goes down last week.
Portland State left in the playoffs hosting UNI..
Hope the Vikes win and show that a Big Sky commuter , urban school can get it done as this is important for the Big Sky as a conference with schools like PSU and Sac State are equal schools to the rest of the Big Sky.
So the Big Sky is done in football until next fall.
Great to see Portland State have a huge turn around year and finish at 9-3. Would be a tremendous season for us to experience such a turn around with a first year coach as PSU did.
Great season for Southern Utah winning the Big Sky championship with their tiny school, tiny fan base and tiny stadium. Sad to see the Big Sky champs going on the road for the playoffs in the first round. But guess it is all about $$$$$$$ and SUU just does not cut it.
Montucky goes down big at NDSU today after getting a close win over SDSU at home last week in the playoffs and continues to dream about getting out of the Big Sky and moving up as the big bad Griz finish with 5 losses at the FCS level which somehow translates into moving up?/
Forgot to mention a 9-2 Portland State team in the FCS playoffs for the first time had a crowd of 8,022 tonight in Portland. Just goes to show that the Montana schools are not so much the standard in the Big Sky. The other schools most certainly can get it done too.
And of course wish bigger and better attendance for all Big Sky football member schools . It is best for all Big Sky schools to have the goal of stadiums that are filled to capacity each and every week.
