Montana State @ Portland State Thread

Given PSU's offensive performance the past couple of weeks and the Bobcats inability to score much along with the brutal kicking game, I see PSU winning this one.

I think the Cats will score some points on the PSU defense but not enough. The Cats defense cannot continue to be left on the field for as long as they have been and be expected to hold up for the entire game. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if the Cats give Rasmussen (rs freshman qb of the future) significant playing time in this one now that the playoffs are unattainable.

PSU 34
MSU 23

Add to that the long list of injuries we have had and the past history of the Cats playing in Portland and it dosn't look good for us. I hope the Cats can make agood showing though and maybe even pull an upset.

For both fan bases regardless of what happens, this is going to be a long off-season. Two teams with unproven coaches. I hope something good happens. Cause at the moment the Big Sky looks like Montana and the other 8 teams.

I agree that this will be a long season, but next year may be very interesting.

UM – loses many starters and possibly has a new coach (rumors) I think they will have a down year.

MSU – second year and first full year with Ash, I expect much improvement.

PSU – ditto above for MSU, JG will build up your D and I look for a strong showing

EWU – With Nichols and co they will be a power for a few years again.

NAU – Always strong and I expect it again.

ISU – Second year for a new coach, I expect a stronger team than usual.

WSU – Not sure but again I always expect them to be tough.

Sac – second year for new coach. They are improving a lot and will give more teams more problems.

UNC – Young and will get better.

I expect a lot of improvement across the BSC. I am predicting it now, UM will NOT win the BSC in 2008.

I hope your right. I see improvement for MSU but its tough to believe anything at PSU right now. So many let downs this year.

PSU will have back most of their linebackers. Considering they're really the only ones on the defense playing up to their potential, I'd say that's a good sign.

On offense, they get back Hubel, and hopefully a healthy McClintock. If they can actually get some talent around them, there's still reason to hope.

"Some talent around them" means O/D line! We're mighty sparse there, will have to raid the JUCOs heavily.

As a Montana State fan, I'm hoping for improvement next year also. With all the off season turmoil since the end of last season, I thought the Cats would be a 6-5 team, maybe 7-4 this season so I'm not surprised at where things are at this point.

My concern is what the immediate and long term impact of the APR problems and related lost scholarships will have on recruiting and depth in the next few years. There is also talk of lost practice time, which would hurt due to the new coaching staff's need to have a normal practice schedule starting next spring and carrying over to fall camp and the season.

I'm afraid it may be a while yet before things are settled down and "back to normal". /users/31/07/37/smiles/681496.gif

I have a couple of neighbors that are ex-military coming to the game...

For the military and ex-military tickets, you just need to show military id at the gate to get in. No need to go to the box office...

Thought I'd pass it on...

Even though I'm stuck in Texas (really tough having to put up with 75 degree days) but it just so happens we ex-military don't have ID cards. We do however have DD form 214's to prove we served. would that work?

The ticket office would need to confirm if that would work.

I just heard on Channel 2 News anybody under 18 years old gets in free tomorrow. Coach was on for a few seconds talking about how many starters are out with injuries. I still think we'll win. We're due.
GO VIKS!

I know I've mentioned this before, but I'm so tired of Tom Hewitt's football broadcasts. He's far too excited for the other team, and half the time makes no noise. He doesn't get excited for the Vikings that much either. I really hope they consider bringing in somebody else for football next year. I've been thinking this for pretty much all of the last two seasons, but this losing makes less important gripes come to the surface.

This comes in stark contrast to his basketball broadcasts. I think he's a pretty good b-ball commentator, and keeps fans glued to the game.
