Montana State vs Portland State - Thread

Greetings Viking fans!! Here's to a good game this weekend in Portland. I know you guys have been struggling, but the Cats have been pretty much up and down all season, so you never really know. We have actually played some pretty good games on the road this season, but PGE has given us fits in the past.

Our offense really seems to have started clicking, and believe it or not, I think it's due to our newly found QB rotation tactic. We really don't have a true starter, but rather two guys who compliment each nicely and bring different things to the table. It has made it hard for our opponents to gameplan for both Mark Iddins & Cody Kempt. I would imagine Iddins will get the start, and Cody will come in if the offense begins to stall out. All our RBs are healthy, and Aaron Mason looks like he's found a new gear after spending a couple weeks sidelined with a concussion. We are little dinged up on the o-line, but hopefully all our regular starters will be in the game on Saturday.

Our defense, which MSU typically hangs it hat on, has been a little suspect this season, primarily in the secondary. A couple a major injuries to Arnold Briggs and Cory Nicol have forced us to play a couple freshman and move some people over. Flu, mono, and injuries have taken their toll on our LB corp, with Chase Gazzerro, Jeff Price, and Buck Buchannan Award candidate Dane Fletcher all missing significant time. No word yet on the status of those three for Saturday's contest. We still boost a pretty stout run defense, but with JG's gameplan, we will have to figure out a different to stop the run and shoot.

Good luck on Saturday, but not too much! The Cats really need this win to keep our playoff hopes alive, but in the Big Sky, anyone can step up and have a great game. MSU will have to come to play well and have a complete game against PSU to pull out the W. See ya Saturday!

You will crush us and your fans will probably outnumber the home team's.

...but that's okay because we will demolish you again during basketball season.

That's probably true! The Big Sky is gonna have some very good basketball teams this season, but that's a thread for another day. I think MSU will have a good fan turn-out in Portland; we've always appreciated your hospitality at PSU.

And really, what better way to show hospitality than by turning the ball over and letting you run up the score. At the rate he's going, Hubel will be cordial enough to hand your DBs about 6 balls this week.

Are we really ranked 118th in pass defense? My oh my.

Ford is getting the start at corner on senior day. Should have happened a few weeks back....
