Needless to say this is a big game, MSU(7-5) is 2-0 in conference right now with home wins over NAU and a surprising thrashing (87-63) of Northern Colorado(10-3)(1-1). N.Colorado went on to beat a good Montana team(10-4) @ Montana that weekend by 11. MSU beat U C Santa Barbara by 12 in Bozeman, beat Colorado Christian by 10, same margin as us, and lost on the road to Boise St. by 2. They have the exact amount of time off as us before we meet on the 31st. With the big win over Northern the Bobcats are title contenders in my mind even without last year Senior Mbunga. They were the only Big Sky team to beat us last year, and they did it twice both at the DEC. We beat them in Bozeman by 20. The tourney loss still stings.
We can no longer afford these awful slow starts we need to come out intense and strong, I would like to see us up by 20 in the first half on somebody for a change.

Why is the game at 3 in the afternoon? Are any fans going to show up? In a perfect world, attendance increases because people go to this game as part of their New Years Eve celebration. Unfortunately, I expect the opposite effect.

I too think that a 3:00 game time is very odd. I could agree with starting the game earlier than the normal 7 (maybe 5 or 6), but 3? Most people still have to work that day, and will still be working at 3. I don't expect much of a crowd for this one.

have faith...maybe the Mktg. Dept. has a surprise for all in attendance...like maybe purple hats and noise makers?.....cocktails perhaps?...champagne??
Maybe we can get Max Hall to make a personal appearance so we can throw our drinks on him. THAT would fill the Purple Palace!
Maybe even get "Michael Jordan" to play B Russ 1 on 1 at half time too!
DAMNIT...where is our mktg dept. ? these ideas are golden!

I'm betting the marketing department will do their usual, which is NOTHING

I for one am looking forward to this game, Montana State is always scary especially here in Ogden. I hope we can get a good crowd to this one but I am not betting on it. i just hope WSU does not have their slow start that they have been having lately. I'd like to see WSU come out on fire and keep the pedal down all game. And can we please have one of our "big's" show up? Our 4 and 5 positions have really been hurting lately.

To be fair, the 3:00 start time appears to be a conference decision, as the other 2 conference games being played that day also start at 3:00. Regardless, I'll be there. I wouldn't miss either of this week's games. In my opinion MSU and UM are two of the top four teams in an improved conference. Go Cats!

what can we exect for attendance? can we even break 4,000??? 5k would be good 4k would be ok considering the timing of the game and school being out

who has seen a new yrs eve game like this before?
who has seen a wsu game at 3pm? I cant think of one.

I remember a game in late afternoon against SUU 12-16 years ago, but I think it was on a Saturday. I think Koford from Weber High played for SUU then.

are you an older school fan? if it was cameron koford it was when i was in high school. koford graduated from fremont in 1996 same as mike puzey from roy. both went to Utah unless im mixing him up. i think koford was 7 foot. puzey transferred to utah state for his senior yr to get away from fatboy same with lance allred heading for purple pastures.

so would the game have been against Utah or SUU? or like many other utes did koford leave to get away from fatboy?

No not an old school fan, but it was Cameron Kofords older brother I think, and it was definately SUU. I don't know why I remember the game, but the more I think about it 16-20 years ago was this afternoon game.

that would make more sense as fremont wouldnt have existed yet so he would have gone to weber high.

I think Weber is going to take on one of thier biggest conference challenges this year right off the bat, I know we already played Sac, but that was during the ooc sched and it didnt seem like a conf game.

I think Montana State and Northern Colorado will be the teams that could challenge Weber for the Big Sky title.

Weber has to win all their home games if they want a chance at hosting the Tourny. Also, they owe State from last year.

I for one am glad that this is a 3pm game. My whole office is closing early tomorrow so we can all go to the game. Kinda a selfish reason I know :D

Greetings southern Cats from the northern Cats! Should be a good one tonight! My Cats are off to a pretty good start this season. The win over UNC was huge! I am personally a little surprised, as like many of you, that we are playing this well considering the loss of Mbubga. However, most everybody else is back from a team that went to the BSC Tourney title game (and shoulda won), so I think that experience is really paying dividends this year.

It's always scary playing you guys in the Purple Palace. I'm sure the fans, the coaches, and the players from last year vividly remember losing to my boys twice, and the revenge factor will definitely be on tap. We have had a little time off since our last game, however this will be our third straight road game and that always worries me a little. I know you guys have a little home win-streak thing going on as well, so I am sure the Wildcats are looking to protect that also. With guys like Lillard, Bullinger, Session, and Panos, you guys are loaded with talent. It will be a tough game for my Cats!

Anyways, here's to a good game - I will have to find a computer and try to watch on Big Sky TV. Happy New Year you crazy, purple southern Cats!!
