Montana State

The Vikings made enough unforced errors to last the rest of the season. We can only hope that they have it out of their system. I hope PSU works on interior defense and rebounding. . In the last two games, the UM and MSU point guards only had to beat their defender and it was all over but the shouting. There is no help on defense. In addition, one simply cannot allow the player you are defending to receive the ball 2-5 ft from the basket without having to work for it. Maybe things have changed, but I thought that you denied the post when they were down low and played behind them when they were not.

PSU can be a marvelous offensive machine;. KV is almost unstoppable from lay-up range to 15 feet and has more moves than a ballet dancer. KK is a unrelenting force who is dynamite in transition and around the basket. The team has a plethora of outside shooters and the luxury of two good point guards. At times Clair does astounding things and you have to forgive her mistakes which almost always are a result of trying to do too much. Eryn is very "heady" for her years but everyone is going to have problems guarding the UM and MSU points one-on-one. They need a little help. PSU can score with anyone (forget OSU, please), but is going to have to play much better defense if they expect to advance into the post-season.

At this point, it appears that Kate D may be the best interior defender and rebounder who gets any real minutes on the court. I expected an improvement in defense with the two new forwards but it is difficult to guard anyone from the bench. The coaches seem to have forgotten Kate W's name since the OSU game and Stephanie E has played only a few minutes since the game.

MSU Upsets PSU, 94-90, Behind 27 Points From Perry

Well that basically sucked.

Montana State obviously wanted that game. I was about to go crazy when we fouled, they missed the shot and got their own rebound, and then it happened immediately again! Where were our rebounds????

Kind of an oddity here.

Murrell's Vikings are 19-4 against the rest of the conference, but 0-3 against the Bobcats.

no help defense, poor shot clock use at the end and dumb mistakes by seasoned players at the wire...better hope that is all of that!! they are a much better team than they played today.....some unforced errors sealed the loss.

What is it about Montana State? They'll kill our title hopes and post season hopes. Insane that one team can do this to PSU.

Well, they can't totally kill your postseason hopes. PSU will make the WNIT if they don't win the Big Sky Tournament.

I don't know they thought they'd get the WNIT invite last year and it didn't happen...they better figure things out down the stretch.

The highest finishing team in the regular season standings that doesn't make the NCAAs gets an auto-bid into the WNIT. The Viks (and Montana) would have to try pretty hard to finish worse than second right now. Idaho State got the bid last year.

The only realistic way PSU would have to worry about no postseason games at all is if they finished second and one of the also-rans somehow won the Big Sky Tournament.

Two days after big win, PSU women upset

good good, still hoping to win conference title!! What is it about MSU that makes them so difficult to match up with....??? still think interior defense is lacking somehow...

Maybe we have been simply out coached and out played. Unfortunately now I think MSU has PSU psyched out and there is no way we will be able to beat them in Bozeman much less beating Montana in Missoula. PSU's defense was atrocious versus MSU. 94 points? I mean c'mon.

Maybe, but I would hate to think that the team would be psyched out long term, they are too talented and smart for that. Desire will go a long way if it's embraced by all the team and they play as a team. They have to trust that their team mates will perform and not feel they have to do everything themselves. That is occasinally what I see as a stumbling block for this group. Offensively that is what they need, defensively they need to suck it up and be faster, stronger, in better position and want the ball more than the other gal....value each possession really not just say it, but do it. That is my armchair coaching!!
