The Spokesman's beat writer for the Cougs tweeted the following last night

"The last time a Mike Leach-coached team was held without a touchdown, they won 62-0 the next week against an FCS team: http://t.co/Pxl6K9Iy" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"

Article goes on to explain how in 2006 Texas Tech, who was in the Cotton Bowl the previous year AND ranked that year, absolutely drubbed an FCS team after losing a game and not scoring a touchdown. Leach called players out in 2006 and got the desired response. This year he didn't call any Cougs out and obviously we'll have to see if that works - I'm betting it doesn't.

Is there anyone in Coug nation that thinks the Cougars will run roughshod over EWU? And if there is I want some of whatever they are drinking!

I think this game is setup perfectly for an Eagle victory.
1) Win over Idaho = confidence
2) Underdog = nothing to lose
3) WSU loss = Cougs questioning themselves
4) Few see EWU as legitimate opponent comment = big a$$ chip on the shoulder of Eags
5) Big game experience - This group of Eagles has it and the Cougs, not so much.

I know there are no X and O reasons listed above but this game, in my opinion, will come down to the intangibles - heart, desire, confidence and playing loose. All of which, the Eags have and, frankly, I have yet to see in the Cougs in the last 4 years.

Go Eags!!!

"their next game — against a 1-AA (FCS) team (same classification as Eastern Washington, though EWU is probably a tougher opponent) — Texas Tech routed Southeastern Louisiana, 62-0"

LOL there is no probably about it. SE Louisana went 2-9 - http://www.fanbase.com/Southeastern-Louisiana-Lions-Football-2006" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

That's hardly a good comparison to make. We earned the respect of the UW fanbase and Seattle sports writers last year but it looks like we still have a little something to prove to the WSU fans.

Honestly, it's probably the same writers. There are very few "WSU" reporters that don't also cover the Huskies. We have very few who actually dedicate themselves to covering the Cougs compared to the Huskies, and most of them don't know what they're talking about. I'd say most WSU fans know this is going to be a tough week.

The WSU beat writer is in his first year, and a UW grad to boot. He's having enough trouble figuring out what being a Cougar is all about to worry about much else, Eastern included.
