More schedule discussion...

IF Portland Stae wins out... and God willing they won't even win this weekend... but at 8-3, I'd guarantee they get in with just 6 D-I wins.

Not sure why this article claims no team with less than 7 D-I wins has ever rec'd an at-large berth, becasue Eastern did in 1985--- back when only 12 teasm made it in.

Portland State got screwed in '06 with 7 DI wins including FBS New Mexico and didn't make the playoffs. ISU also missed the playoffs in the early 2000's with an 8-3 record but I think they did have a DII on the schedule. So anything can happen.

Eastern finished the season 9-3... they were 8-2 at the end of the regular season with 2 wins over Chico State and Fort Lewis (both D-IIs).

Yeah, but it's a 20 team playoff now and an 8-3 Big Sky team is going to look really attractive this season since the CAA looks like a down conference. When Idaho State went 8-3 and got passed up, they were 3rd in the Big Sky and the other two got in (I think it was Montana #1 and NAU #2 that year... 2001 if not mistaken). Portland State went 7-4 in 2006, so it was the losses that kept them out. At 8-3, they would have likely been an at-large that year.

The same thing happened to Eastern in 1993. They finished 7-3 with 7 D-I wins including 4 straight wins to end the season and a thumping of Boise State in Boise. But without that 8th win, they didn't get an at-large... so the 10-game schedule killed it. I think there was someone that pulled out late and the game couldn't be rescheduled. Eastern was certainly good enough that year to be playoff bound.
