Not sure how many saw this, but Montana State QB Chris Murray is sitting out this season to focus on academics.

Definitely a huge blow for them.

They just fell out of my contender ranks.. believe they have an incoming freshman QB from washington that was highly rated. it's a team headed in the right direction, this is a HUGE set back

Bummer for Murray, but is it really that big of a blow for MSU? If they can find someone who’s a third as mobile as him but who can actually deliver accurate throws they’ll be fine. I guess I am just not as high on Murray as some.

Since football is a team sport is it fair to say he has been acting selfishly and overlooking all of the hard work and commitment by his team mates?

He pLayed as a true frosh, didn't he? I'd suppose he still has a redshirt year to utilize. If that's the case, it might make this upcoming season more difficult, but ultimately is a positive step for the program and the player. Big props to MSU for getting their academics in order even if it means some additional challenges for their football program. In the long run, they'll be better for this.
