MSU QB Out

2 Year starter dual-threat QB Chris Murray will miss the 2018 season to focus on academics.
Wow. That's a big loss for them. He shredded us the last time they were in Ogden. They will have someone step up. :coffee:

This might work out for Montana State, I never thought Murray (as talented as he is) was the right fit for the system MSU is trying to put in place up there. Heck it could be a blessing in disguise for them....but it could also be a season ending fiasco. We shall see once the season gets underway.

From reading the comments on the Bob's site, you would be in the minority there. A few of them think that one of their recruits will fill in nicely, but most think the sky is falling. There was also a strong sentiment that a PE major should not be failing classes in his sophomore year. Especially with all of the academic support availible to him. Sounds like a simmilar thing happened to him last year, but he was able to make it up in the summer. Maybe he is better cut out to be a Grizly.

Last season Murray made 233 of the 234 team QB pass attempts (the QB with the other attempt is no longer on the team). He had 98 more rushing attempts than anyone else on the team. He was the entire offense. Currently there are only three other QBs on the online roster, a true freshman, a redshirt freshman, and a Junior. The Junior, Travis Jonsen, was a big time recruit out of high school and initially went to Oregon. He transferred to MSU this January after playing a year of JC ball (threw for 372 yards on 48 attempts and rushed for another 425 yards on 38 carries). He's another dual-threat type with a history of injuries. If I was a Bobcat fan, I'd be in a bit of a panic too.
