Just wondering whether we are looking at this kid or not. I really hope we are. Joel could be a major player in helping to get Musoko to Weber. Hell, this kid is in our backyard...far better than Brekkot in my opinion. But having Porter as his current coach could potentially hurt us. Maybe not...I've heard Though that he is all about the "bigger" options not necessarily the best option for his kids.

I saw this kid got picked up by Central Arkansas. Certainly not one of the big name schools that coach Porter was hoping for.I wonder if we were even interested in him. I would have loved to see him redshirt this season and play in purple. He played against my friends son this past season and had a double double by half time.

In my opinion, the biggest reason why Musoko wasn't able to get into a bigger program is because of Porter. Playing at a 1A program doesn't really tell coaches much. Musoko has a lot of talent and could become something special, but, I feel, to really prove your talent and ability, Musoko should have been playing at a bigger school, against better talent, and playing with an established AAU team. Porter doesn't develop talent very well, and isn't a fan of Weber State. Something about his son not becoming the teams star.

 Your telling me that my friends 6`2 son that played center for a small private school wasn't good enough talent to help develop Musoko into a high level D-1 player? Tal you are so insulting!

I just wish that we would have rolled the dice on the kid. But if your coach is telling you to hold out for an ACC school that may have an impact on your decision.

 HAHAHA...that was totally low of me. Poor kid!! Yikes...he must have had some serious nightmares after playing against Musoko. That does remind me of the time that Ogden High played Emery High when Shawn Bradley was their center. 7-6 vs. 6-5 in the middle. Ogden's strategy was to beat the tar out of Bradley. Worst game of his career.

Yeah, Porter is definitely a champ. He does things to recruit players to his program. But once in, players with talent, aren't developed or challenged. Musoko should be at a far better program than Central Arkansas, but isn't because of his high school coach. Porter is all talk... I personally would have loved Musoko being a Cat. Too bad Porter, along with being all talk, is Mr. Weber's not good enough for my players. But Central Arkansas is...YIKES!! :dunce:

Just noticed that Musoko was let go by Central Arkansas and has landed at Indian Hills CC in Iowa.

I think the Standard needs to follow their story and see how the kid that was supposedly going to Utah, Memphis or Rutgers ends up at a JC in Iowa where Chris Burgess is an assistant. Yes the Chris Burgess that turned his back on 9 million people by signing at Duke instead of BYU.

It's really too bad that the kid has to go through all of this. This sort of thing often happens when kids are made to believe that they are the next MJ, when they truly have a lot of work to do just to get on the floor at the next level. There is a reason that everyone backed off on him. He probably has a lot of potential, but unrealized potential is like having no potential at all. I just hope he lands at a place that can help him along in the process. :coffee:
