:thumb: WOW what a performance by our team. These guys definitely left it all on the field.
Offense- 52 points and record setting TD performance by our QB. But he is the first to say he could not do it alone, his supporting cast did an awseome job of protection, running the ball, etc.
Defense - Bear in mind we were playing a team in the upper echelon of the Pac 12, one of the Elite 5 conferences in the country. Our d-line was giving up approx. 30lbs per man and we were without the services of Ebukam and Pulu, two future stars of the defense, and Evan Day who we really miss.
The biggest difference appeared to the the team speed. Of course a Pac 12 team will be noticeably faster overall than a FCS team.
I am really proud to wear my Eagle gear driving home thanks to the performance of our team Saturday.
Good Day to be an Eagle!

Where was Shaq Hill ? I hadn't heard he was injured. Our offense was fine without him, but man oh man was he needed on kick returns!

Also tough to have started a true frosh at CB.

I'm sure Eastern will have a good year, and having a week off after an emotional loss is helpful. But we need to get tough and healthy, and find some answers on D.

We need to get some guys healthy on defense. Losing two CB's for the season doesn't help out at all.

Ebukam was suited up, why did he not play?

That's some sweet publicity right there. The LA Times isn't exactly The Lewiston Chronicle.

Much credit to VA... couldn't be more impressed with him as a person and a player, both. He plays like Johnny Manziel and Jameis Winston, but has the total opposite character.

Was the Alemany High group the kids up in the rafters all wearing red and rooting for Eastern? I was wondering how Eagle fans got a pack of tickets together in that section.

Yeah, I wasn't aware of a second corner injured either. I thought I saw Hoffman play when Wadood went down. But I may have confused the numbers.

I saw Victor Gamboa #27 and Woodad #21. I don't recall Jake Hoffman #17. Could have missed it. I was watching the line play.

Oh no, true freshman. What is the injury?

I think it was in the post game show that I heard he was out with an ankle injury.

Agree with the Clawman here. Some amateur observations about the D…

We've played two teams with new coaching staffs, new offenses, new QB's and very little game film to go off of. The disappointment in the Husky game was, unlike SHSU, we couldn't make the adjustments in the 2nd half to slow them down enough

Someone mentioned in another thread that we can never seem to shut down dual threat QB's and the read option. False, we effectively shut down the nation's perennial #1 rushing attack in Poly last year. Regarding what's been mentioned by vultures on other message boards in are ability to win playoff games against a power running team, see ISU two years ago, SDSU and Zach Zenner last year, and as good job as anyone outside of Fargo in containing Terrance West.

Regarding schemes, we have changed a bit running more 4-2-5 sets, especially in the SHSU game.

Last year wasn't a great year for defense, but we seemed to have seriously regressed up front without Andu Pulu and Katoa.

As solid and experienced as McCarthy and Hamlin are, and despite the talent of Havili and the size of all three, we seem slow at LB. I would also critique that we are not getting off of blocks very well at multiple positions (I'm guessing base fundamentals will be preached a bunch the next two weeks). IMHO, we need a high motor LB that closes quickly a la JC or Zack Johnson, or to let Tevin McDonald to continue coming down into the box and wreak more havoc.

We have talent. The game will slow down from here on out. This is a coaching moment and our staff will make the right adjustments. We'll be fine.

59 points given up in 28 minutes when you only turn the ball over twice. That is hard to sugar coat!

Don't get me wrong, I know this team is damn good, but we have to improve significantly on defense or we will get bounced in the playoffs again.

I think you are measuring our defense against an awfully high bar. Cyler (qb) had three TD's in short situations. They had long play of 57 yds, 55 yds, and 54, yds. Their speed was very evident in those drives. Our safeties were playing aggressive and just behind the linebackers. When the runner broke past the line of scrimmage it was off to the races and we simply could not catch them. We really needed Pulu and Ebukam this game.
Same story, teams at the FCS level do not have the depth to lose key players.
We'll be fine!
The mighty NDSU only scores 24 points against the rebuilding Weber Wildcats. Does anyone think the NDSU defense, as good as it may be, is better than the Huskies? Not me.

ndsu, niu, sela, and ewu are head and shoulders above the rest of the league. 2 of those 4 will be in Frisco and I know we can overcome all...but I have nightmares about the Bison, they play perfect football.

We match up well with NDSU. I'm actually not worried about them. We don't match up well with SELA.

There isn't a defense in the FCS that can stop us, not even NDSU. We will put 30+ on them.

We will have home games throughout the playoffs at this pace and I'm not too worried about our defense.

We have a bye week to heal up and get ready to play a good MSU team in Bozeman.

My glass says this team is destined for Frisco....
