My take on game

I was at the game last night. Fun as hell. I thought tanner was near flawless. No errors. No mistakes. Missed some deep throws but his running ability last night was clutch. He made some great throws. I thought the PSU qb was unreal in person. So quick and elusive. We simply had no answer for him until when Christian Holland sacked him late in game. I thought it was not really the d coordinator fault it looked to me like they simply had a far superior athlete at qb that nobody in our box of front seven could match his athleticism and we were just at a mismatch with him, if we pressured him he escaped with ease. I noticed towards end of game it appeared he was hampered a bit with a slight injury that made him less elusive plus I noticed our d lineman and LB’s did not pressure him in backfield at all they just kind of came off line Of scrimmage and set up a wall so to speak near line of scrimmage and tried not to let him run around and advance down field. I thought that was a reasonable strategy. The missed field goal by them that hit the upright was a gift from above. The punt at end of game that rolled to there 12 yard line might have been the difference in game honestly. We gained approx 20 yards on that roll of punt which was probably the difference in field position that prevented them from having a chance to kick a field goal as time expired to send game into OT potentially. Christian Holland was a stud I thought. Prayers to Cody graves and the family that he is going to be ok. such a fun game to watch live. Another big road game in So Cal next week. Can’t look past poly, trap game.

My take on the game is our offense can put up the points on most teams. On the other hand, our defense gave up a lot of points against Portland State who is an average offense. Our defense will have to play much better to beat Cal Poly and Weber State.

Prayers go out to Graves for a full recovery soon.
Let's be honest folks, our offense for the most part is doing very well week in and week out especially when we are at full strength and when Tanner is also running the ball with authority...
However, as usual it is the defense that really needs some serious help. I realize we banged up and missing some previous starters but for the love of God why don't we rotate our D bench more to give the starters a breather throughout the entire game ? Don't the coaches trust the D backups even if they are not upperclass man ? The second and third string players need game speed experience now or next year we are in serious trouble. It is very obvious the current starters are playing almost the entire game and are therefore gased in the 4th quarter every game. Just venting some frustration.
If we keep our D fresh throughout the entire game hopefully this will help in the 4th quarter with the current limited depth ? Go Bengals 🏈

Our secondary is pretty good this year, every now and then we give up a big play, but I think it would be fair to say we have not pressured the QB like we should. I agree with substituting our D-line in/out more often. they show they are gassed. our line backers are forced to play coverage and cover the run on almost every play and unfortunately for them, they are unable to do every single play. The last two games have shown that the bengals have what it takes to compete. What we need to do is play with that same mind frame from the very first snap that we are in a crucial position. The last two defensive stands (MSU and PSU) were phenomenal! But I also noticed that we changed up our defensive strategy, they began to contain and make these QBs, that are very good at running, throw the ball. I have been a bengal fan for many years now and I will support them through thick and thin, just like I always have, but this taste of winning has got me buzzing! We need to figure out that triple option from Cal Poly and play like hell!

Why were we wearing the home uniforms at Portland, I can't figure that out. Were we told that they'd be wearing their away uniforms?

Portland was supposed to be a white out. This was even announced on their website during the week. Basically they pulled a trick move to tried to screw us. It's all good, we'll learn from this "miscommunication" and move on. :D

As of today, Monday, it's still listed on their website in the schedule as a white out. Doesn't surprise me from that staff, if it was intentional.
