Former Idaho State University President Myron "Barney" Coulter, who led ISU from 1976 to 1984, died in Waynesville, N.C., on Tuesday, Oct. 4, after a long battle with cancer. He was 82.

Thoughts and prayers to the Coulter family... He accomplished a great deal for ISU, and presided over a successful time period in ISU athletics history -- men's basketball advanced to the Elite Eight in the NCAA tourney, and the football team won the national championship.

I was thinking about him the other day, even thought about calling him for an interview on the 1981 team. When I interviewed Dave Kragthorpe on Saturday, he praised Dr. Coulter highly for the support he gave the athletic department. Very sorry to hear of his passing.
