National Semifinals vs. Maine Game Day Thread

Good looking Maine team. Hope we can get back to Leave No Doubt and worry less about the other teams emotive health. Guarantee Maine can't wait to get a piece of the Eagles. They called us out this morning in twitter before the game began...

Which Eagle teams shows ?

Good point. Have we regressed in the post season? Hard to say based on level on competition but I suspect the multiple key injuries have really started to take a toll on this team’s identity. I really think we need 2 or 3 of those guys to return next weekend.

I can't help but feel we are damn cursed in the semifinals at home after losing the last 3 times. We need to play a complete game and come out swinging.

If you dig through the stastical archive you'll also find a very interesting and little known statistic....

The only semifinal that EWU has ever won was at home.

Here’s yet another tidbit, every semifinal Eastern has lost has been at home.

So EWU has hosted every semifinal game?

You would think we would win more!

I'd rather have the team stay at home and play in front of the home crowd than travel across the continent.

Turns out winning semi final games is kind of hard. Whoda thought!

Of course

But if you're the host of the semis, it isn't unreasonable to be disappointed you haven't even won a quarter of the time!

That all changes next week, Eags had been running hot, played a team for the second time in a month, played arguably their worst game since the Weber loss AND STILL WON. Think you see a more focused team come Maine time ! Go Best, Go EAGS!!!!

"Soon there will be a bear in your Stadium. For some people, the bear is easy to see. Others don't see it at all. Some people say the bear is tame. Others say it's vicious and dangerous. Since no one can really be sure who's right, isn't it smart to not mess with the bear in the first place and just rollover and give up rather than get smacked and hurt badly? If there is a bear do you really think EWU can tame a bear without getting seriously hurt?" Save yourself from unneeded injuries and intimidation and just rollover....so the bear won't hurt you too much and allow to move on in peace...to Frisco...where y'all
know the bear really belongs...

Go Blackbears…….

Truthfully, all three of those games were completely winnable games. We should have won all three of those games, and in each of them, I can think of a key play or decision I think made the difference in the game. Especially the Towson and Youngstown State games. Towson, the 4th down pass Kupp that would've been a touchdown. Youngstown, the trick play in which Cooper overthrew (Shaq?) to go up three scores. Instead, YSU got the ball back, kept the game within reach, and we all know what happened at the end. SHSU, it's not a play, but I think if VA would've played the whole, or most of the game, we would've won. I also think if we could've gotten that last defensive stop, VA was on fire and would've had enough time to at least put us in FG range, and we would've won in OT.

I hope this is the game where those demons are finally exorcised.

UCD really seemed to tamp down our offense. Maine has a much better defense, so I think it will be even tougher to score next week. I think our most critical injuries are on defense, and with some of those same pieces in the game today, I think we would've had another stop or two.

I don’t know if I’d buy that Eastern played a poor game today. We just saw a MUCH better UC Davis than we did the first time around.

That said, it feels like we’ve been starting slow and having to feel a way into the game. It took until the 4th quarter today.

Whoever made a deal with the devil to win the 2010 National Championship, you need to hold up your side of the bargain so he quits cutting our season short.

Looking at this game....Maine Lost to W&M ...which turns out is a very bad team so I really wonder what turned them around after that game. Watching them play was not overly impressed by their offense, but their D is TOUGH, but looks like they lack athleticism.
