Last years frustratingly ugly loss to NAU needs to be avenged. We looked terrible, lost a starting OT to injury, had a carousel at QB with both players throwing picks and never really competed.

NAU has Cookus back and is coming off a BYE week. I expect this to be a very competitive game.

Dear hunting is not what it used to be. That shouldn't be a huge impact on attendance. They are predicting another storm, that may be the biggest impact. I was happy with our last crowd. The students were there in larger numbers and there was a good contingent from SUU.

NAU is a stronger program than SUU this year. Although, SUU gets way high for any competition with WSU. NAU has had our number for the last few years, so I am sure that we will be well prepared to play them. SUU went deep on us a few times, but we picked them off 4 times. I expect NAU to pass a lot and I expect that we will pick them off as well. It's really just a matter of keeping them out of the end zone. I am hoping that our QB's are both healthy and that our O line can step it up a little.

I predict a one touchdown win for WSU. Should be a great game. I also predict that Josh Davis will have a breakout game, and that there will be at least one return for a TD by our Wildcats. :coffee:

I have a bad feeling about this game...

...Which is probably a good sign considering how awful I am at picking games this year.

Depth chart changes just reflect what happened in the last game.
Jenks is listed as QB1 with Constantine as the backup.
Hyrum Tapusoa is listed as the starter at LG ahead of Cole McGinnis

I suspect either QB and either LG could start. Pretty much how it has been all year. I don't really think the depth chart means much and doubt it is current beyond the previous game.

Other interesting tidbits:
  • The Lumberjacks lead the nation in passing offense and rank sixth in total offense.
  • Weber State leads the Big Sky and ranks 11th in the nation in scoring defense, and ranks second in the league in total defense and passing defense.
Irresistible force meet immovable object. Something has gotta give, hopefully we contain their passing attack and limit the big plays.

NAU's strength (passing offense) vs. Weber State's strength (defense). I figure that to be the story of the game. Cookus has been clicking so far and the Jacks have been scoring lots of points this year but giving up lots of points as well. Jacks haven't shown the ability to run the ball consistently and a beat up offensive line isn't helping. Advantage to WSU if it's raining as NAU has never played well outside and in weather since I've been a fan. Wildcats give up more points that usual but also score more than usual.

Wildcats win 28-17.

I would take that score any day of the week. I really expect a hard fought game. It always seems to be that way with NAU. They are predicting a storm, but the weather is always subject to change in the Rocky Mountains, as you know. I hope to see you and 10,000 of your closest friends at the game. :coffee:

This feels like a trap game. Weber needs to finally break thru against NAU. Coach Hill is 0-4 against NAU including a terrible performance by the Wildcats last year in Flagstaff.

NAU has been vulnerable to the run and has had two defensive starters quit the team during the season.
Weber should be able to run the ball, but we need to have a balanced attack if we are going to continue to win in the Big Sky. Assuming both QBs are healthy, pick a horse and ride him the rest of the year.

Weber wins but fails to cover in a dogfight. 31-27

Can’t keep NAU off the board with 96 yards of field and less than a minute to play.

As far as the offense, all you need to know is the coaches choosing to punt from the NAU 34 yard line with under a minute left before half. Speaks volumes!

A dome team is taking it to WSU in bad weather.

Let’s hope some adjustments can turn this game around.

What a game from Josh davis, Kris Jackson, and the o-line. 440 yards and 7 rushing TDS total. The secondary made some huge mistakes and we didn’t have a much of a pass rush. I have no idea what to expect from the QB position from week to week. Shaheed was randomly out.

But we win and move on.

My prediction of a close game was off by a mile. The offensive display in the second half was something to see. I think we wore them down. NAU's QB was the best I've seen in a while. I hope he is okay for the rest of the season.

Well there was some adjustments made in the second half. What an amazing game by Josh Davis. Maybe the offense can build on this win as they face three very tough teams on the road.

It seems like the Wildcat have to build suspense at home by not showing up for a half of the game. It drives me nuts, but still getting the Ws

Big games coming up. Time to put a full game together!

Great 2nd half domination.

Tried watching the game from the comforts of the campground. Stream was in and out so I saw about 2/3 of the game. Noticed I wasn't the only one not at the game as that was the smallest attendance I've seen in years. Weber should really request that the conference doesn't schedule them at home on this weekend every season. Of course, the bad weather didn't help either. Didn't have much faith going into the second half, although without the JD fumble at our 20 and the long pass at the end of the half, Weber should have been up 14-7. Second half was a very pleasant surprise. JD was incredible. Was fun seeing him make some history. Should easily get National POW. Also very good game from Kris Jackson. Have to hand it to the coaching staff, they obviously saw things in the film that showed they would be able to run the ball. Once they knew that was working, they stayed with it. Didn't need the passing game. Also they obviously made some adjustments at the half. Now, if this team could just put together a full damn game, look the hell out.
