NAU Broadcast

Hands down the best broadcasting crew in the conference. Play by play man gets excited when NAU does well but doesn't act like a biased homer. And I liked all the Weber fan comments read on air, even the one from Cody, err catcat, in San Jose. :)

i am a big fan of mitch and of course carl!

NAU PBP is by far the best. Arky is very hard to listen
to for me. He says stupid things, that usually make no sense what so ever.

Dutch should not be let within 1000 yards of a microphone.

I like Carl. He is bit of a homer, but I enjoy him and think he is excellent. The NAU announcer is very good as well.

I agree that Carl is good, but Dutch brings him down. NAU is the best though. Does anyone else read email's and give shout out's during the game? Anyone else have every home game broadcast in HD? The difference between quality of the NAU/WSU game and the MSU/UM game on bigskytv was incredible. I switched over the WSU women's feed to compare that night and it's too dark and also much lower quality than the NAU feed, better than the MSU feed but probably mid-pack compared to the rest of the big sky.

WSU needs to make a considerable effort to increase the video/audio stream quality (having it playing in-sync would be a great start) for their home games. It's a huge perk for recruits knowing that their parents will be able to watch them play, and as it stands now it's not good enough when you can barely tell who is playing when you select full screen.

There were three reasons that the video quality went to HD in Flagstaff:
1- the broadcast is managed by a curriculum drive broadcast degree program, which funded the HD cameras, equipment, communications upgrades, etc and students do a lot of the broadcast.
2- Availability of a cable/satellite broadcast outlet- With Pac12 TV taking games from Univ of Arizona and Arizona State off FoxSportsAZ, they have"bandwidth" to broadcast NAU's games, they need content.
3- They got a Medical Group to sponsor the costs, plus the Univ kicks in and gets to advertise.

It gives fans a chance to see our guys as it could be.

Mitch Strohman has the ability to make 20-30 point blowouts, and there have been quite a few of them the last two seasons, entertaining. Wouldn't trade him for any other announcer. I'm sad that his broadcast partner, Coach Brown (color commentary), is retiring. Reading fan emails/texts on air is genius as it keeps listeners from being passive consumers. Spices things up. I keep fearing some bigger school will scoop him up but he has a local radio show, does guest bits on Arizona PBS and is the host/fill-in for two of NAU TV's shows. I'm hoping he's entrenched in the community enough to stick around.

Best quality broadcasts that I have watched in the Big Sky conference. Heyoh22 is spot on on his analysis. An old buddy of mine works in television in Las Vegas and is amazed at the quality that NAU students are producing. Not having to pay the majority of its workers is probably one of the reasons they can make this happen. The advent of the Pac-12 network is the best thing to happen to NAU sports coverage. There have been more NAU basketball/volleyball/soccer/football games covered live and through tape delay this season than ever before. It's awesome for a fan who can't make the 2+ hour drive each way very often. Kids/recruits get excited about stuff like this. They're happy that their family and friends can see em on tv. It can't hurt with recruiting.

Now...if only anyone in the community would show up and give a squat. Students did better supporting basketball earlier in the season. The student section didn't have much life on Saturday. The community... I'm not wasting my breath. Their support has never been there, even when Howland was in town.

Appreciate the passionate fans you have, Wildcat faithful.

for me dutch doesn't even count. he only does home basketball games, no away games and no football. i really like carl plus i know him. i feel bad for carl when he has dutch on. but carl is just nice and probably just puts up with him. lol. do u think he hates when dutch is there? or maybe its just nice to get a break. i dont dare ask that question, im afraid to know the answer.
