NAU Coach Adras resigns

Your student section won't have "Baldy" to entertain you anymore. (NAU) Coach Adras resigned today. Limited details are included in the article. With how tight-lipped things in NAU athletics are, I don't expect further details to be forthcoming.

Damn it.

I always appreciated Coach Adras' passion. Some internet haters and rumor millers said recent players were unhappy with him being a hard ass. I've always been of the belief that for every kid that hates a coach there are normally significantly more who are willing to work hard and appreciate the high expectations. I'll take a Coach Adras any day of the week over a Coach Calipari. No questions asked.

I like Coach Brown (replacement coach who's been doing play by play for NAU hoops the last few years) but I can't help but see this as a negative for NAU basketball.

What looked to be a tough season just may turn into a truly painful one now. :-(

3 things:

1) Would be hard to imagine NAU forcing him out in any way... I know NAU has been awful this year, but you'd think Adras would have a lot longer leash than this.

2) What "other opportunities" could be be pursuing in the middle of the year?

3) Strange to see the radio commentator being named the interim coach rather than one of the assistants...

sad to see him go assuming nothing strange took place. long time coach, lots of wins. i liked him.

starting 2-7 in OOC is nothing too unusual or could warrant firing a coach in the big sky. there has to be more to the story.
