NAU vs. UA

Anybody going? I am going to have to DVR the game but I am excited to watch. This is an incredibly talented and athletic wildcat team.

I really like what the new coach is doing with the team. He has very little to work with, but does the best with what he has. The freshmen are playing pretty good and Gabe Rogers is having a good year so far. I know it will be too much stying close with Arizona, but the future looks good for NAU under the new coach. Let's hope he sticks around for a while.

Well...that sucked. My "glass half full" status as an NAU fan was tested @ McKale Center tonight.

Positives: NAU will face no team as talented as U of A the rest of the way. Blake Hamilton showed some promise and he didn't play like a freshman. The folks sitting next to me must have been up for some sort of release program from the local nursing home but they were pleasant.

Negatives: Gotta find someone other than Rogers and Russell willing to take shots. I'll leave it at that.

Speaking of geriatrics, how can I forget the old man stripping at mid-court during a tv time-out? This youtube clip is of the "ooh aah" man. Actually, it was pretty cool to see the old coot fire up the crowd.

ya that was rough, but the talent levels are just on two different planets. i liked what i saw in the first half and was hoping we could stay within twenty. we have a much more winnable game sat in the dome vs sam houston state. i think jack murphy is the real deal

I didn't see very many Southern Arizona NAU alums in attendance last night. Maybe they had premonitions re: the outcome? NAU's guards were competitive but a front court of 6'6" to 6'8" players were no match against U of A's neverending bigs.

I believe that NAU will be more competitive in the Big Sky this season. It can't get much worse than last year.

Jacksdude - Please post a review of some sort of the Sam Houston game. I don't see myself catching an NAU game live in Flagstaff til January sometime.

will do. Im thinking a much more competitive game. their size doesnt seem to overwhelming, but its hard to see where this Sam houston state team is at( their losses are at Texas, Indiana, and arkansas but they have wins vs. liberty and uc irvine). anybody hear about that kid from hawaii that committed for basketball? apparently he got interest from UCLA and USC in football. looks like he could provide some real toughness

Check out a high school basketball game on the reservation sometime. The community support given is amazing. All this love for the sport nearby and, sadly, NAU has never been able latch onto it.

One of the most enjoyable live basketball games I ever watched was a high school playoff game years ago @ Rolle Activity Center between Tuba City HS and Globe HS. Neither team could stop the other and both teams had multiple players in double digits. It was like watching a track meet on a basketball court...run and gun. Fun stuff.
