NCAA Basketball in Portland

So UP is going to play Kentucky in the Rose Garden this season.

UO is going to play Duke in the Rose Garden this season.

Why can't PSU bring in a top program to come in and play us in the Rose Garden?

I know we had Duke come in years ago, but why do we let these other programs proclaim the City of Portland as their own?

Sheesh, it's not like we haven't been to the tourney a couple of times in the past few years...

Because PSU would have 3,000 fans there while UO and UP will fill the Rose Garden. They also chose their opponents well; both Kentucky and Duke fans travel extremely well and will have quite a bunch of fans there.

We won't have more fans before we can accommodate more fans for regular games (i.e. before we have a bigger arena).

I'm not familiar with UP's program, but they'll fill up the Rose Garden???

Fair enough.

How about hosting a tournament? Portland is a good sized market and people would come. They may not come to root for us, but something like the Far West Classic from back in the day would be great.
