NCAA=JOKE

Not to hash the ncaa thing again but I think they are one of the biggest jokes out there. They like to enforce rules but can make their side rules, if you will?

Has anyone talked about this......Jordan said that if the Tar Heels win two games in New Jersey this weekend and get back to the Final Four, he'll supply the entire team with the tough-to-find (and quite pricey) Air Jordan 11 Retro "Cool Greys," along with "anything you want."

Upon hearing that, the words "NCAA violation" might spring into your head, but it appears that wouldn't likely be the case, as the Jordan Brand — owned by, of course, Jordan — is the team's official equipment supplier.

Funny how he said "anything you want"

The ncaa is so involved with the BCS that it is gross in my opinion. Why do certain schools keep getting ALL the MONEY? Why do certain teams get "gifts" cuz they made it to a bowl game? Why do certain individual go on "trips" cuz they are affiliated with the BCS?

The BCS and the NCAA is corrupt in my opinion. Why can they "NCAA" make rules on gifts, etc on who they want but the rest of us must live by their dumb ass rules like the prior posts? The last time I checked we lived in the USA not Russia. NCAA/BCS, what a complete JOKE!

It's true, it is a joke but, it's nothing new. It's always pissed me off like none other that Weber has to play by every little stupid rule and if they break anything they get a huge slap in the face while "bigger" programs can basically do what they want and if they break something they get a "stern" don't do that please. It's partly why those who have the money keep the money and always have better teams. It's sickening really.

Another good example is whats going on in North Dakota, the NCAA has threatened UND to every level if they dont get rid of thier name and logo, yet they havent attacked San Diego State.,Florida State, Illinois and all those other big time big name programs that have "Indian" mascots, because they have the money. Its a total rip of the highest level.

That's not true. All NCAA members who are still using Native American mascots/logos/nicknames (e.g. Central Michigan, Utah, Florida State) are doing so with the permission of the respective tribe. In Illinois' case, the university got rid of the Chief Illiniwek mascot but can still use the "Fighting Illini" because it has grown into a reference to the people and the state of Illinois. The actual rule states that a school can't use a hostile/offensive Native American mascot/nickname/logo (sans permission) at a NCAA Championship and is not eligible to host postseason competition if it uses the Native American mascot/nickname/logo.

North Dakota is fighting this because they received a $100 million donation for a new hockey arena on the condition that it keep the Fighting Sioux nickname indefinitely. After some litigation, the university was given a couple of years to gain support from the tribe to continue to use the name, but it has been unable to do so.

Found this info out today from the PlayoffPAC. I thought you fans might get a good read out of this and how the BCS is BS!

FIESTA BOWL FIRES CEO AMID TROUBLING REVELATIONS AND EVIDENCE OF COVER-UP

Contact: Matthew Sanderson, 202-862-5046, [email protected]

The BCS's Fiesta Bowl today fired its long-time CEO, John Junker, amid troubling findings revealed in an internal report. According to the report, the Bowl's inquiry was initiated to "investigate the myriad allegations raised by Playoff PAC" in the PAC's legal complaints filed with the Arizona Secretary of State and the Internal Revenue Service. In the report, the BCS's Fiesta Bowl, a public charity, paid for the following, which were not previously revealed in Playoff PAC's legal complaints:
A $1,200 bill for its CEO to visit a Phoenix strip club;
More than $33,000 for the CEO's four-day birthday bash in Pebble Beach, California;
Roughly $13,000 for the wedding and honeymoon of the CEO's assistant; and
Out-of-state stays at luxury hotels for Arizona public officials;
Four golf club memberships for Bowl executives;
Personal automobiles for Bowl executives; and
Home internet and cable services for Bowl executives.
The report also detailed evidence of an effort by Bowl executives to conceal information.

Playoff PAC co-founder Matthew Sanderson said: "These organization-wide abuses exhibited by the Fiesta Bowl are inherent in a system that is run by the few, for the benefit of the few. These revelations also beg the question--what is happening at the other BCS Bowls? BCS Bowls are public charities directly subsidized by cash-strapped schools. The entire system needs cleaning, and we hope and expect that still-pending government inquiries will proceed so that this type of misconduct will cease."
