Anyone else thing it was way cool to see the 1959 team at the past game, and to unfurl the new banner which will reside up with the other banners around the Dee?? I thought it was awesome!!! :thumb: They even had footage of the team playing showing on the JT.
I think its way cool that there is a banner of a National Champions basketball at the Dee Events Center!!! It only goes to show the rich tradition of basketball here at WSU!!! I heard kids at the game saying it wasn't that impressive because it was "only" juco ball. They were comparing it to club sports like bowling, soccer and baseball.. Yes, its cool that they win national champions in those sports, but the basketball team was recognized by the NCAA...

Now, this is definitely beating a dead horse.. But something needs to be done to get Lillards jersey retired as soon a he is done playing here. Whether it be this year or next season. He must be honored. I know Catcat has his other past wildcats that he wants to get retired... I think we all do.

Now, if WSU were to name the court in honor of someone, specifically a coach, who would it be????

At first, I was a bit disappointed that it had taken so long to honor this team. There were three members of it who had already died. Yet, in reflection, it is better late than never. That team was instrumental in allowing Weber to make the direct jump from the Juco ranks to NCAA DI in basketball. Like you, I was even more impressed seeing actual game film of the game on the big screen. It doesn't matter what level the Natl. Championship was won at, what matters most is that it was won at all. There are hundreds of schools that can't any sort of Natl. Championship. Even Club Natl. Championships are special and extremely difficult to win. Just ask the Soccer, Hockey, and Baseball teams (I wish they were all DI teams).

I'm glad that Weber is starting to honor its Juco players. Nobody knew about Wat Misaka till a couple seasons ago, which is a shame, a local Ogden boy who made it to the biggest stage in his sport. Regardless of how long it took, I'm glad it was done. Most importantly, Weber honored him before it was too late.

Naming the Court?? Well, I think the Swenson Court should be named after Motta. That is where he did all of his damage to opposing competition. The Dee??? Motta, Johnson, or McCarthy??

Before Lillard's jersey can be retired...the school needs to retire Willies, Bruces, Watts, Jimmy Ds, & SupaMans jerseys too. Gotta retire a number for Coach Motta!! He, who started it all.

Yea, i thought it was really cool too. I really enjoyed watching the old school footage of their games that they showed on the jumbotron.
