We didn't get an invite in the PSU section of OLive but here it is (stolen from the Blazers section)

http://www.oregonlive.com/sports/index.ssf/2014/09/meet_keith_sharon_the_oregonia.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I doubt they will include my question. I'm sure they will delete it. I'll probably get another reprimand, but it would be nice to get just a little local coverage.

We'll never be at the table with the Big Oh unless things substantially change.

Last time I said a few things about the editor to the editor about their PSU coverage, during the time when Hersh was having his spat with Paulson. I was told to tone down my rhetoric and stick to the topic or I was going to have my posting "privileges" revoked. I was also provided with a link to their terms and conditions. Still, someone has to stir the pot over there. :twisted:

All stick and no carrot doesn't exactly impress readers.

If you want to rail about "60 experts" and say they don't know unless they've gone to games, YOU miss the point. In amongst the hundreds of things one can do on a Saturday (whether indoors, outside in Portland, or who knows what the heck), what compels me to go to a PSU football game?

If I can mention the Portland Beavers here; people who went could tell that nobody was going to games. People talk. There's a human habit of telling oneself "this has gotten to the point where I don't want to be invested in this thing... but I want to be there at the end when all the crap hits the fan." THAT IS WHY THE BEAVERS SOLD OUT THEIR FINAL GAME.

Let's be honest here... that's why the game against Eastern at the end of this season will probably have a big crowd. Not the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders... a prime indication that David Hersh is operating a 70s/80s brain in a city with the most strip bars per capita in 2014.

You are now the person trying to turn the Vikings from a sports athletic department into a charity case, blaming the media that will have the LEAST IMPACT on PSU. That's why your tirade is going to backfire, not because you can't guilt The O.

Its difficult for me to be mad at you, my friend. Anyone with that much passion towards PSU athletics is all right in my book. As far as OLive, all I'm looking for is not the same coverage as the Ducks and Beavers, but some coverage about the Viks. I sit in the stands watching the game and I see the Oregonian building just across the MAX tracks. That is how close physically they are to the game, but they are miles away mentally. Something negative does get printed and here come the posters saying stuff like "Well I haven't been to a PSU game since Pokey Allen was there, but let me tell you what is wrong with the program."

The EWU game should generate its own crowd without any gimmicks. EWU will be a national title contender by then and will be coming to Portland right before EWU plans on making a big run in the playoffs. If Hersh is any type of salesman, he should be able to promote the hell out of that game and get a big crowd without too much effort. He shouldn't have to rely on Dallas cheerleaders to do it for him.

I got an answer to my question from the new sports editor at OLive. According to him, we will have a writer and photographer at all PSU home football games. It is a start. Now hopefully the product won't disappoint.

If the anger creates focus (which is known to happen sometimes), DO IT!!!
