Now that recruiting is over for the most part, and a very good class is locked down, any word on receivers coach?
Strength coach?

Seriously... we don't have a strength coach? Who oversees the weightlifting and workouts??

Coach Sawyer has done it in the past and is more than capable.
He may be capable and this is a good time to have another coach filling in but it would seem best for the players to have the continuity of a regular strength and conditioning coach.

Obviously the sooner we get a coach to fill the position, the better. However, if the staff has yet to find a good fit for the role, I support them taking their time to make the right hire.

Amir Owens selected as new S & C Coach....

Awesome! We might as well rename the school Curtis University. Who knew little old University Place would be such a breeding ground for coaching talent?

I Herd wispers that an Explayer has the inside track on the WC job. That's right, that is what I Herd.
So you Herd it from me first. Things can always change but it's great if someone from within the Eastern Herd gets the job.

Oops it's the WR coach not the water closet job.

SE174,
Like Ronthewiseoldeagle stated I heard the same thing, but would not say until Coach Baldwin mention it first The person in mind is very capable. The Wide Receivers will respect him. Vic Wallace

Jim Allen has posted on Twitter that Nick Edwards is the new WR coach. I have great confidence that he can continue what Junior Adams started at EWU!

Go EAGS!!!

My only concern would be that "he doesn't know what he doesn't know". How do coaches learn more tricks of their trade? Where do they get more training? In business we are continually learning and training, coaching is definitely a business.
Are there coaching seminars or ??

As well as intimate knowledge of the offensive system at EWU. I think that's pretty key. I also think he has a pretty good repoir with the guys on the sidelines at the games I've seen him at.

Nick has an incredible work ethic so I have no doubt about his effort... That said, it is a huge opportunity to get your starting job as a position coach for a championship caliber FCS team. Most start their coaching careers at a lower level and move up after proving themselves on the job (even our current staff's resumes contain D-2 or lower positions prior to landing at Eastern). Good for him, he's going to take the opportunity and run with it no doubt, but I can understand the questions about his lack of coaching experience.
