New Transfer in Khameron Davis

Just saw this on Verbal Commits last night. We got a new transfer. Played 2 years at Pitt. From Colorado. Started quite a few games as a Freshman. Hardly played at all as a Soph. Averaged 2 PPG last year. Will sit out next season and have 2 years left to play. Hard to get too excited about this transfer, but you never know. I was hoping for a post player. We seem pretty stacked at the guard position even after Harding and John leave next year. Time will tell.

Read through comments on twitter and it seems like he is highly respected and appreciated by his teammates and Pitt fans. Coaches changed after his freshman year and that might have been the reason why he didn't see the floor much. Not to fault the new coach. He wants to play his guys. Hey, his loss is our gain. What we do know about him is that he is a defender and leader. A guy who brings energy to the court. Also, he played a lot of mins against great competition. Playing in the ACC is a bit different from the "vaunted" Big Sky. I think he will bring some much needed experience to our program. I'm excited to have him.

Some might think that this is only important for 2020/2021. However, that is not true at all. This young man will make us better each and every day at practice. He will be a huge part of the scout team and will make our team better by stretching them on offense and defense every single practice. By the time he is ready to play for us, he will have experienced most of the systems he will be playing against. There is often great value in a red shirt year. Kham is a very skilled and high level athlete who prides himself on playing tough D. Of course he can shoot and score, but he knows what it takes to win at a high level. It takes a commitment to defense and he can prove to be a real leader in that aspect of the game. That and just the overall toughness it takes to grind through the schedule.

IMHO, this is a great get for our community, WSU, and our team. Can't wait to watch him play this June.

Kham is an intriguing transfer. ACC basketball is much better than the Big Sky. However Pitt's record for the two years he played there was not good. 8-24 in 2017-18 including a loss at home to Montana. They went 14-19 this year. Not sure he knows what it takes to win at a high level based on his college playing career. Not saying this record is attributed to him. Just saying he is still a raw talent.
