New Turf

Eastern Washington recently received a gift of $500,000 for new Red turf but they have to raise another $500,000 to $750,000 to finish the project. ISU already has $500,000 in the bank and is trying to get the rest and will buy new turf for the dome when they have the money. As a ISU fan and supporter how much if any would you donate and for what color. Be realistic and leave your thoughts.

The Tacoma Dome did all new PureGrass turf, green, for 836K. Let's do it!!!

espn front football page had this article about EWU and their new red turf. Makes me a little envious of the outpouring of support for their program.

First off, ISU will never install an orange turf. Nope, not status quo athletic department, not do the same thing and hope for something different athletic department. This athletic department has been kicking the can down the road for years.. essentially, since the mini dome was built. IMO, a surprising action like this is needed... fans need to know the engine still runs.

I've always thought Boise benefitted from this little gimick.

From the article: Eastern football coach Beau Baldwin sees one important advantage in the red rug.

"It's huge for recruiting.......

I for one and excited about the new field turf at Eastern. They set the ball rolling in the right direction several years ago when they built the new press box, locker rooms, entrance and other renovations were put in place. There is still a long ways to go in terms of making Woodward a premier FCS caliber venue (better visitor side seating, parking), but the new turf coupled with new scoreboards won't hurt.

No need to pick out a color - just get that cannon fired up and we can char the turf black - with bright orange trim - but just until the fire is extinguished!
