So is the new turf a done deal or just a could happen by this fall kind of thing? If it is a done deal and it requires the field turf to be pieced together like a puzzle (takes 24 hours to put down) how about leaving the old roll up turf in place all year long except from August to the end of football season when the field surface turf would stay in place. Having the ability to roll out the old turf as a surface for track and field athletes to stretch on, high school state wrestling for spring football etc etc. This would help with maintaining the longevity of the new turf if it was used only for football season. Thoughts???

From what I understand it's a done deal and will cost us about a million dollars, and it will last for about 10 years. But we won't have it until just before the season starts. It will be pieced together in velcro strips and taken back up after the season is over with. But I guarantee, it will be a lot nicer than what we have now!

If it is the same as the turf in Dallis it rolls up. I understand new larger motors will be required to roll the turf up. My understanding the turf we are getting is the next generation of field turf.

Regarding what I said about the turf being put down in velcro strips and taken back up, this is the info that an ISU administrator told me about a year ago. It's not my ideas on the situation. Their plans may have changed since then, but as of a year ago this is what this person told me that they had plans for. In any event whatever they come up with, I think it will be a nice recruiting tool and our injuries should diminish significantly with this new turf.
