The weight room. Got loads of young talent that will remember how this season ended. We will be outright BSC champs next year, mark my words.

Mark your words? How can you be so confident knowing that Aaron Best just Failed at winning the BSC title & Failed at making the playoffs with a healthy Gage Gubrud? Aaron Best is not Div1 HC material & EWU will not hoist a BSC trophy under his leadership. Mark My Words! :coffee:

Did you say the same things after the 2008 season when we went 6-5 with a healthy Matt Nichols and missed the playoffs? :coffee:

Like Kalm pointed out, Coach Baldwin managed a 6-5 record (with arguably better/more experienced talent). I don't know what your beef with Coach Best is, but he has all the capabilities necessary to keep this team at the top. Dude knows football better than anyone I've ever met. Step up your posting game man. Your shit is weak.

Also, we are 8 points away from being Big Sky Champs this year. New offensive staff, lost three NFL receivers, half the oline, injuries etc etc. Firmly believe we win it next year.

Always a song in my heart doesn't mean we shouldn't be reflective of what this season looked like on the field. Lots of room to speculate but bar doing that, it was obvious that this staff was finding its way under Best. Can't say I understand it, but the proof is in the pudding. For now, prepared to take a step back and see what Best does with the offseason. Say it in a song.

Here's my wish list:

1) Find an offensive coordinator. I cant fault Best this year, he had to scramble to assemble his staff. Having your Off. Coordinator bail really hurt our offense this year.

2) Book a hotel in Ellensburg, bring Bill Chaves and his check book and hire their Defensive Coordinator. Who would that be? Scott Power http://wildcatsports.com/coaches.aspx?rc=540&path=football
CWU had 8 defensive players named to either 1st team or 2nd team all-GNAC this season.
No hard feelings Schmedding, but he's had three years to get his defense going and it's not up to snuf.

3) Do something to the god damn east side bleachers. JFC

I think it is easy to point to the coordinator for some of the defensive issues, but I would love to see the distribution of the scholarships. My guess is that it leans towards the offense more then the defense. I thought the defense was much better this year, but our lack of pressure or a big HUMAN or two (depth) in the middle has hurt. More
Finally the O line...not sure what was going on at UND.

Could we see a change how EWU schedules it’s non-conference games down the road?

Yes. I think it will change to the extent that it can change. I think the location of our school truly does play a larger role than people think, however. Most teams simply don't have to get on a plane to play a non-conference game, so they certainly aren't likely to fly out and take a likely loss if they're not getting a healthy check to do it. That makes complete sense to me.

With that said, EWU apparently gets no credit for a tough schedule unless they win a game or two, and the dreaded schedule that people have been clamoring about for years here, finally bit us in the ass. I just don't know the solution to it...

Agree with all of this....I keep thinking back to the Bison game and how we just got dismantled by them. We could not stop them. There was just no margin for error after that and those two losses to SUU and WSU just was the end of us.

Dude, were you not part of BB's 6-5 team in his first year? Pretty sure 7-4 > 6-5. And Beau had previous (1 year, point still stands) HC experience. Calm your tits.

I hate to say no shit, but no shit. 8-3 is better than 7-4. Hopefully the lesson is learned. Beating Prairie View A&M is better than losing to NDSU. A tough schedule is only beneficial if you win those tough games and are in the battle for a top seed. If you are in a tweener year, having more wins is far better than a tough schedule.

Yeah, I don't get it. Let's face it, our team was in a down year (which, by most standards, isn't really "down" at all... It's a high-class problem to refer to a 7-4 team as "down"). We had an absurd schedule and a mountain of injuries, including our best DL going down for the season early in game #2. The only competitive game we lost was to Weber; all the other close ones resulted in a win. The other teams that beat us were just better, coaching can't mask that.

We all know the D is an ongoing challenge and Best will be in charge of getting that rectified. Baldwin was a great coach and we always struggled on that side of the ball. I think we're in good hands.
