Nick Montana...

Just saw the opinion article posted by EWURanger...

It got me thinking, Nick Montana would be a great fit here in the EWU offense, IMO! He's young, but obviously has the talent as he was one of the top qb's in the 2010 recruiting class. I've not heard any rumors even about him wanting to transfer to EWU, but it's definately something that would benefit this team! I believe he could come in and dominate right away with the weapons that we have on offense!

looks like Nick Montana could be transferring to a JC in Texas, same one Scam Newton went to. Poor decision if true.

Trivia time.

Who was the junior backup QB at Oaks Christian, behind a graduating senior, when Nick Montana transfered to Oaks Christian to be the starting QB the following season?

And maybe he is wanting a commitment for a coach that he would be the starter. If so, I doubt Baldwin would do that for any QB, even Joe

Nick Montana looked like crap when he got an opportunity this year. JC is probably the right route for him right now.

Trevor Gretzky and lost the position at the St. Bonaventure game to Richie Herrington.

Nope, in all fairness, he transfered out a week before Monatana transfered in:

Lol... I misread your post. Yes, Anthony transferred out five days before Nick came in. What two EWU QB had the same quarterback coach during their high school years.

The Gretzky thing is kind of interesting too. He came in as a sophomore backup the year after Anthony left, and battled with Herrington his senior year as you described, and of course Anthony went on to do great things at Chaminade. You've got me on the shared HS coach.

Meyer, Nichols, Mitchell ... I can't wait to see who Baldwin mentors next. What a great coach for developing pro-style QB's.

Dean Herrington, a QB coach and later became head coach at Alemany has worked both with Anthony and Vernon.

There were massive transfers out of Oaks when Gretsky decided he wanted to try and play QB as a sophmore. He was a receiver in his freshman year.

The name doesn't necessarily translate into talent. One should be careful for what one wishes for. Both Blinn JC in TX and El Camino JC in CA turned Montana down. Last word was he'll be at Mt. San Antonio in CA, not exactly a football powerhouse...

What about taking another chance on a kid from SMU? As far as I know, Kyle Padron's still available. Padron's got size, a big arm, and can run outside the pocket. Most importantly, he's got the experience. A proven QB and a stable of great WRs could mean a scary good offense.

He is visiting the end of Feb.
