New Mexico State has said that its football program will go independent starting in 2013. Oh and get this. They will stay in the WAC for all other sports. :coffee: You may be asking yourself "What WAC?" Well... Aren't we all... Aren't we all...

"The entire 2013 football schedule should be available in mid-October. Even though our football program will be independent in 2013, NMSU will remain a WAC member in all other sports."

I suspect both NMSU and Idaho are going to hang around with the "WAC" for one more season, even though the conference won't be an automatic qualifier for that one year, in order to make sure they cash any checks the schools that leave the conference will be paying in exit fees. The Idaho Statesman is reporting that Idaho will probably join the Big Sky in 2014-15, which means they'll be playing in the "WAC" next year, as well.

well the remaining wac schools in football would be:

1-texas state
2-texas san antonio

is that all?

and in basketball they would have:

1-texas state
2-texas san antonio
3-seattle
4-denver
5-idaho
6-nmsu

is there any others? if that is the conf, nmsu basketball would go 10-0 every yr.

Subtract the two Texas schools, they are leaving for other conferences. That leaves Idaho, Denver, Seattle and NMSU in basketball. Maybe they can add Utah Valley or another school or two through a scheduling agreement. Again, they would be a non-qualifier for the NCAA, but by hanging around for another year, Idaho and NMSU will guarantee that they a) don't have to pay any exit fees and b) reap the benefits of the exit fees the other schools are going to have to pay.

Then Idaho joins the Big Sky in 2014 and NMSU has to find another place for all sports other than football.

Yeah. Bengal has it right. UTSA is joining CUSA and Texas State is joining the Sunbelt. So football in the WAC is 100% dead.

big sky is already too big. i think we should say not to idaho or nmsu or any other school that has interest. we hav enough, sorry yalll, no offense.

Did I hear possible FBS football for the big sky in the video?
I think u heard right! There are topics on Big Sky going fbs on the MWC, WAC, and Egrizz Boards. Kinda interesting? I dont think its WAC merge stuff, I think Fulerton wants whats left of WAC for the Big Sky to start two divisions?? Stay tuned!

Anyone who thinks big sky will go fbs is mentally ill. Unless of course one of the two following options happens:

1. Fbs no longer means what it means right now

2. The big sky kicks out Weber st, Idaho st, nau, suu, sac, psu, ewu, cal poly, Davis, unc, und.

So option 1 it must be.
