No more all red uni's at home?

You're kidding right? We wore all red at home during the 2010 season until the last playoff game against Villanova... They changed it up for that game to silence the critics who were complaining that the all red on the red field was an unfair advantage. We won and shut them up. :lol: so I guess that means that teams that play on green turf can't wear all green, huh?

The biggest rule change (outside of Boise, of course) was to stiffen penalties for targeting defenseless players. A penalty for contacting a defenseless player above the shoulders will be 15 yards and automatic ejection.

Bad... bad... bad... 15 yards is enough. You can't eject a player for trying to make a play, and unless they intentionally lay a guy out (which really is only the case about 1 out of every 10 times you see this foul), you can't really throw them out.

What I'd like to see them do is change the helmet contact rules to only apply to a runner with his head up or jumping to catch a ball. Once you have a ball carrier bending down to avoid contact or make his own contact, no foul should apply. That way, if the defender jumps into a tackle at under the shoulder level, it's a legal hit regardless of whether helmet contact gets made. I think the refs lose sight of how fast the game moves in real time when they make these kind of rules.

Actually, yes. If I'm reading this right, it would apply to teams wearing all green.

Actually, yes. If I'm reading this right, it would apply to teams wearing all green.

That's how I read it too ... Kind of illustrates how ridiculous it is when taken to the extreme!

It looks like they softened the language on ejecting a player for helmet contact as well, to only apply to a player that intentionally targets the head and allows for replay appeal.

Just eliminate or minimize the facemask and the spearing will go away.
