Why CP with two games? Seems like this is the Montucky network. :dunce:

CP wasn't on at all last year and they won a share of the conf title. That's probably why. Didn't last years schedule show you that it was the Montucky network?

The only game we would have had on Root is the UM game. Root Sports is a mountain and Pacific Northwest regional network. They have no incentive to televise any games outside of that footprint since they are selling ad space to companies within that footprint. Rumor is the Mariners are going to purchase a majority share of the network so this move towards more PacNW (see EWU and PSU) events should be the norm from here on out.

The good news is this:
  • 1. The SJSU and ASU games will be on TV. Probably a CBS Sports channel and the Pac12 Network respectively.
    2. No matter which games are chosen to be on Root, we still get our share of the TV money.
    3. A local Montana network will most likely be cutting Sac State a check to purchase the rights to telecast the UM game. This money won’t be shared with anyone.
    4. The Causeway will most likely be on regional TV. That is another check coming our way.
    5. Root scheduling never changed the fact that Wanless needs to be beating down the doors of regional networks to see if there are any takers to purchase the rights to any of the other home games. Aside from the UM and Causeway games, the only other marketable home game is probably the NAU game.
    6. NAU has a regional TV deal with Fox Sports so they might also want to purchase those rights from Sac State to televise the game.
    7. CP usually has their games televised on regional networks (I think typically their local NBC affiliate). Wanless needs to see if there is a way a local Sac affiliate would televise/transmit that game so the Sac area can benefit from that exposure.
    8. The UND game will probably be on a Fox Sport channel, however it is a road game and so no money will be made there.
    9. We are looking at a minimum of 3 games (@SJSU, @ASU, Causeway) on regional/readily accessible channels with another possible 4 games (UM, @NAU, @UND, @CP) being televised on non-regional/local channels.Things could be a lot worse.
