Even though they're Canadian they still deserve there own thread as they are in a 3 way tie for 3rd.

It looks like they are playing better ball lately. Anyone care to break down why?

I read somewhere they are sharing & assisting the ball better. Which has included benching Hot Dog Huff at times when he takes ill advised shots.

You hit the nail right on the head. That head is 'Hot Dog Huff'. After curbing his ball hogging a little bit, they are not so one dimensional and are playing better as a team. The same thing happened at PSU when they sent their ball hog star home to think about it for the next 40 years.

That is one thing that has to be said of Berry, he is a team player, sometimes to a fault. Quite often, I have seem berry pass up a layup when he thought his teammate had a chance for a better play. That is why he leads our team in assists and scoring. He has also become a much better defender and often is taking on the other teams best guy. When I say 'sometimes to a fault', there have been many occasions when his team mates thought he was going to the glass and were not ready for the pass, creating a turnover. I can think of 4 or 5 instances this season, where his team mates would have had a dunk if they had been ready for the pass that ended up being a TO.

Anyways, since the fighting Eskimos benched the 'Dog' they have been playing better as a team. :coffee:

I think Brian Jones finally acted like a head coach and got control of his team. This team has talent, just not a lot of height. We should be able to kill them on the boards. We do need the Hot Dog to play some good minutes so he can be heckled.

Brian Jones is one of tallest head coaches in Division 1. Last year he was also one of the lowest paid coaches in D1. Can we assume that inch for inch he is getting paid less than any coach in the country?

By the way, the UPS man has made it safely to my home with hot dog hats in hand. In 7 hours, we will be roasting a big weanie at the DEE!

I just hope that our loss to the Hornets puts a fire under this team, they better come out on fire tonight, We are gonna need it for sure, North Dakota is not a team to trifle with. I expect a fast paced game, and hopefully a Weber win.

GO WILDCATS

I'm thinking that the Sac St loss will stick with the guys for a while, they don't want to get in that position again.

UND is likely still ticked about losing to Weber in the Semis last year in Missoula. They thought they had that game won and the Cats came back......most of the players on this year's team were there for the loss. Add to it the loss at home in early January and they have motivation too

My prediction Weber: 72, UND 63

Just to riff a little on the title of this post, North Dakota would likely appreciate having any nickname at all, even it was insulting to Canadians. According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, because of the Fighting Sioux fiasco, "state law prohibits the university from adopting a new team name until 2015." With that said, I hope Weber destroys these nameless nobodies. I can't forget sweating out last year's Big Sky tourney semi-final against them, so I hope they're not taken lightly.

Also, Quick Change is performing tonight. Woo hooo! He's always entertaining, even if he does perform the same routine every year.

Actually, a lot of UND fans I know are hoping UND sticks it to the NCAA and remains nameless! Not sure if they would be able to do that or not though...

I am going to stop coming to games cause they always play better when I'm not there and they make their free throws. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: But poor Troy "Hot Dog" Huff!!! :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Anybody else noticing how we are the only ones getting called for ticky tack fouls?

I have noticed that in our last three games. Especially in the NAU game.

Also what the EFF was up with the Flagrant foul on Senglin? All he did (that I saw) was tip the ball out of Huff's hands? Was it treat Huff like a superstar night at the Dee last night? The guy had 0 fouls last night and I saw plenty of fouls from him yesterday including an over the back late in the game.

And then that travel that everyone in the Dee (except the REFS) saw. WTH is up with Big Sky refs this year, they suck we all know that but they are sucking at a whole differnet level this year. What the heck?

The replay that I saw, on the UND announcers lap top, didn't show any contact at all. The refs thought they saw Senglin hit his arm, causing him to lose the ball. It's a special Huff rule, if you appear to touch him it's an automatic flagrant. The UND coach made that call. The refs were kissing his behind the whole night long. BSC officiating is a very proud group. They are as right as right can be.

Bolomboy! What a beast last night! We need that offensive confidence out of him every night. If he can have that type of offensive effort and confidence consistently his potential is unlimited. I've really noticed Berry stepping it up in the past few weeks also. Of course his scoring has been great but he seems to be taking the team on his shoulders more now with a "this is my team" mentality. That leadership seemed to be lacking earlier in the season. Kudos to the team and to those two in particluar. Let's go get a win against UNC!!!

Coach said on the post game that they've been working a lot on Joel's offensive moves and free throws. They've been trying to get him to cut out all the jerks and fakes and go to the basket quicker and smoother, and adding the little jump hook that Tres uses a lot. Also got him to eliminate that little hitch in his free throw. All that work really paid off last night as he looked much better with the ball. If his offensive game continues to improve, look out Big Sky!

I think someone needs to mention the job Gittens did on Huff. Clearly Rahe didn't want to wear out Berry by having him guard Huff, and Senglin and Richardson just didn't have the length.
Hill also played well. He's had a couple of decent games at home. Now he needs to do the same on the road.

I loved it when Carl said in the post game that Joel should develop an up and under. And coach said, "I don't want him to go up and under, I want a simple baby hook shot."

I also enjoyed when coach said that we should attacked the press more tonight. It's kind of hard to attack when the first thing Jeremy does when he crosses half court is look for the cue card.

Dutch is still calling him Singelton

No mention of the Gittens dunk yet? He threw it down with his left hand from the far left side, which seems to defy all natural laws that I'm aware of. He somehow avoided running into the side of the backboard and stuffed it over some hapless UND defender (that's the University of North Dakota, not Notre Dame, for those who may have been confused). It was easily the second-best dunk I've seen this year, with Senglin's epic pre-season slam still holding first place.

That dunk was sick!! Gittens has such upside and potential. He is only going to get better and better. He is already a lock down defender and we all know he can play offense. He does miss a bunch of layups, but sometimes just watching him get to the rim is pretty incredible.

The Freshman all seem like they are on the verge of having breakout games. There were a few times last night where if they saw him, Gittens could have had some sweet alley-op dunks. By the way, why aren't we running the alley-op plays to Joel and Kyndahl anymore??
