Noteworthy: Melvin Jones and Charles Odum combined for 31 points in Thursday's 71-69 victory over visiting Weber State, helping the Vikings snap a two-game losing streak and improve their home record to 7-2. ... Since the start of the 2004-05 season, PSU is 40-8 at home, including a 24-5 record in Big Sky games.

The Vikings are averaging 74.4 points a game and are currently tied with Weber State for the league lead in scoring, while Northern Arizona (74.2 ppg) ranks third. ... The Lumberjacks have lost five consecutive road games, including Thursday's 72-59 loss at Eastern Washington.

Senior guard Cameron Jones, who led all scorers with 24 points in Thursday's loss, has scored in double figures in four consecutive games, averaging 26.5 points and shooting 52.1 percent (37 for 51) from the field during that stretch. "NAU is tough to stop whether you're playing man or zone, or pressing them or doing whatever," Vikings coach Tyler Geving said. "They execute at a high level on the offensive end, so we've really got to do a good job defensively. I think Cameron Jones is probably the best player in the league now with Weber's Damian Lillard out, and maybe even if Lillard were still playing. He's a talent and he's tough to stop." On the season, Jones leads the Big Sky in scoring, while Shane Johannsen is a shooting a league-best 73.5 percent (72 for 98) from the field.

Cameron Jones scored a career-high 37 points in NAU's 82-80 overtime victory against Idaho State two weeks ago. He is currently sixth on the Lumberjacks' career scoring list with 1,361 points and needs three points to pass Dan McClintock (1996-2000) and move into the No. 5 spot.

PSU basketball legend Freeman Williams is visiting campus this week while filming a documentary about his life's story and will be in attendance at Saturday's game. Williams scored 3,249 points during his time in the Park Blocks from 1974-78 and ranks second on the NCAA's Division I all-time scoring list behind Pete Maravich.

What a painful game to watch. The first half was dreadful, as we could not rebound the ball and seemingly shot less than 10% from the floor. I'm surprised that Chehalis wasn't even in uniform tonight; the team really could have used his inside presence, because we could only muster one shot every time down the court. Also, the number of offensive fouls was ridiculous; four in four/five possessions?

I was sick as a dog this weekend and couldn't make it.

Good thing I didn't, this would have put me in a coma.

Terrible news about Tapscott.
