Six weeks later, UNC hires a new head coach...

Earnest Collins, Jr., the University of Northern Colorado single-season school record holder for punt return yards and a former assistant coach for the Bears, has been named the next head football coach, director of athletics Jay Hinrichs announced Tuesday.

Collins becomes the 16th football coach in school history and the first to return to his alma mater to serve as head coach.

What a bad deal. The process took way too long and now they are settling on a coach that they really didn't want as bad as some others. I don't mean that negative toward Collins, but they tried to hire another coach that stiffed them in public. How many times in college ball do you hear of a coach being offered a job and then the coach changes his mind and backs out. It may happen all the time, but it doesn't happen in public.

I wish Mr. Collins the best of luck. He is going to need it, he is in bad shape this season for recruiting. Hoping for the best for Northern Colorado--they are almost in as bad of shape as Idaho State.
