Damn. Illinois St. looks tough. As does Appy. If we take care of business today, we will have a tough game ahead of us. Go Eags!

Illinois State will absolutely bitchslap us next week if we come out and play like we did today. I was watching their game earlier and rooting for them, but changed to rooting for App State as it appeared to me that Illinois State was quite a bit more talented. Their DL gets after it in a big way, and their secondary looked sharp. If we have another game where we let the opposition chip away with first downs, the next one might get ugly.

I think Eastern will look far more motivated against Illinois State. The team will know that game will require their best. I really hoped to see a fired up and highly motivated team this week, but it obviously didn't happen. And Wagner did a fantastic job of dictating their style of play on the ball game.

Yet somehow we won again... What the F is up with you?! We keep winning and you keep whining. I got it figured out. At some point we might lose and you'll say "I told you so..." We're in the quarterfinals. Try to enjoy it for a change!

Yet they still gave up quite few points today.

Just being a realist... Let me ask you, is anything I said wrong? Do you really believe we'll beat Illinois State playing the same game we played today? I think you're going to have a hard, cold dose of reality if you see us play like this against a team that has equal talent.

Winning isn't the same as playing perfectly, or even playing great. We won today playing pretty much a mediocre game. I've been around football long enough to know that a team with talent like ours can win this whole thing, but we have to be playing great to do it. And play great for 60 minutes.

Just because I'm not some fanboy that pretends my team can do no wrong, doesn't mean I'm not enjoying our success. I'll leave that fanboy stuff to BlackFalkin, and perhaps you too.

And I didn't mean to say the secondary looked sharp, I meant to say I thought their linebackers played sharp.

Illinois State faced a very good passing team and gave up quite a few yards through the air. We'll have our chances to move the ball so long as we can keep their front 3 blocked. Even though App State scored 31 in regulation against Illinois State, you have to balance that with the fact App State is definitively an offense-first team.

Illinois State's offense might be the best possible fit our defense can face. They don't run laterally much, preferring to use a big, bruising back in a power game. And they like to throw a lot if available. I think we'll see more of a 50/50 attack next week, even though today they were much more pass-heavy.

At the end of the day its a WIN... Wagner is very disciplined and stuck to the game plan. Never did I feel we were out played today. Like a cat playing with a mouse. We will rise up just because thats what we do its EAGLE FOOTBALL BABY !!!!

GS for me. I think both teams would be equally tough to beat, but Im sick of the arrogance coming out of Fargo. Having NDSU not even reach the finals would make the whole experience better for me.
