For us to make a move to the WAC!!! Not going forward is going backwards.. Who agrees with me? I mean UVU is in the mix for heck sakes! Has anyone recently talked to the administration about this? I'm pretty sure we would we be a great basketball member and our football attendance would be similar to Idaho and USU. Imagine a rivalry game with USU.

When the dust settles, we'll be glad we're in the Big Sky.

The WAC is slowly dying...teams like Montana and North Texas are turning down the WAC...

Stay in the Sky, please.

As a fan of Weber St football, I want nothing to do with the WAC or FBS. I love Sky football and the FCS. I wouldn't trade the real opportunity we now have to win a National Championship with the opportunity to be a "Little Sisters of the Poor" in a totally irrelevant conference. Nor do I think that the program is anywhere near ready to make a jump up. Basketball is another matter, but it's football that is driving all of this.

I guess what I really want is to see Weber and USU in the same conference. I would love for it to be at the FBS level, but even at the FCS level, I think it would make things very exciting!

Even if the WAC continues to exist, it still sucks. They are the laughing stock of the Nation. Everyone in it wants out and the only ones wanting in are schools that really don't have a home, like UVU. I agree that regular games with USU are great for us. We don't have to be in the same league to accomplish that. Eastern Washington won the National Championship this year and we were not that far removed from them. How soon will the WAC produce a National Champion?

I completely agree!! I love FCS football, and I am VERY much looking forward to the New Big Sky in 2012. SCREW the WAC!!

No to the WAC - it is a sinking ship. Weber is not ready for FBS level football yet - Give a few years and they could be, but there is way too much shifting going on with conference affiliation to take that risk now.
The Big Sky is a premiere league at the FCS level and Weber is very competitive. Why give that up for being at the bottom of the worst conference in the country?

Well...since the WAC survived, because the MWC decided not to kill it, I think this talk of UVU and Bakersfield being invited has quickly been pushed out the window. We all know that Idaho, Utah State, and San Jose are trying to get out of the ship before it sinks, but right now there isn't anywhere else for them to go. They are STUCK.

I'm guessing the WAC will make a run at a couple Big Sky schools, which I'm thinking will all turn them down, at least I hope they will, and then they will add Lamar and Seattle. When the dust settles, the WAC will look like this

USU
Idaho
San Jose
New Mexico State
La Tech
Texas State
Texas San Antonio
Lamar or Sam Houston St.
Denver Non-football
Seattle Non-football

A conference on survival mode...Far beneath any other Western conference though.

I think many of us are confused about this subject. Is the WAC dead? Why did the Griz say no? Why would we want to go? Will USU be gone soon? What is the athletic departments stance on this?

moving up would be cool. im ok with where we are especially after finally seeing wsu's stance on conf realignment in the media.

another reason i am ok with it is i went utah state at san jose state game tonight. and that school is no better if not worse than the big sky. the bball arena capacity was 6,000 but it only had seats on 2 sides. the game attendance was 2,300 and i think that was the season high.

that wac is nothing special in basketball i think. in the sagarin ratings the wac is 14th. we are having a down year and the big sky is 23rd. we were 17th last yr. the mtn west is 5th and pac 10 7th. even if weber was to move up it would likely mean usu is gone just like for uvu to move up. uvu has nothing to lose by moving up. they are not even in a real conference nor the same conf for all sports.

Ugh i can not stand utah state at all. It was bull sh*t we lost to them this year so anythime we can play them and beat them is fine by me but i dont want to deal with them all year long and in every sport if they join the sky. I think its funny that they are stuck in the WAC and maybe they wont think they are such hot stuff any more when they no longer have a conference

Let me be the one to put this baby to bed. What should be done is this: USU should join the Big Sky. THAT would be a step up for THEM!
