Odd Scheduling..

I don't like the fact that by the time we host USU, they will have twice as many games under their belt (6), as us. We'll have had Adams St., Byu, CSU. By contrast Utah St. Will have played two exhibition games, USC, SUU, UC Santa Barbara, & Mississippi St.

Why do we have 10 days off before we play Utah St. Why not knock out one of our DII's, & the game at UVU during that stretch. That really is going to play to our disadvantage, & I don't like it.

Who the hell is in charge of scheduling? Strand?

Assume head coaches work out the BB schedules...wondered why the BYU game was first up on the regular schedule until it was noted Rahe & Rose agreed as it being the best date available (not wanting it during the holiday schools out period), also heard that Wildcats elected to forego a second exhibition game this year in order to meet the rules of playing that extra game allowing a medical redshirt for Lillard the year he was injured. A few more games under the belt would've been better before playing Cougs (& Aggies) to tune up & remove any rust & initial nerves, but that's the way it works out sometimes dealing to both team's particular open dates.

Lately I have felt like Cliff from Cheers (very similar to Catcat) whenever I reply, since I have been off. Yet, with scheduling, I am pretty sure it is the coaching staff that creates the teams schedule. Nobody else in athletics is involved. Now there are times when an AD virtually tells a coach that they will play a certain game, instate games, rivalry, etc, but that is fairly rare. Look at Utah. Chris Hill is letting LK create a solid DII schedule every year. From what I understand, a team can either have two exhibition games or can play a DI closed scrimmage and an exhibition game.

Agreed though...I don't get having 10 days off between games. I have a feeling we didn't want to travel anywhere and nobody would come and play us.

Weber forfeited an exhibition game for this year when they granted Damian Lillard a medical red shirt. BYU drove a pretty hard bargain with the game at their place this year. Often the game is played while both schools are on winter break. BYU insisted on having the game while school was in session.

The problem with having such a large conference schedule is that you don't get as many non conference games and you have to space them out like we are seeing this year. My biggest complaint with the schedule is we have the Division II games right before conference play opens. I like that we have a bunch of tough games out of the gate. Who really cares that USU has played more games than us? More opportunity for their guys to get hurt and its more tape for us to watch. They still have to come to our place and face a very good Weber team. They better get all of the practice that they can.

USU is looking pretty good. Seem to be hitting on all cylinders. Although I think we take them going away... Tres, and Bolomboy against Shaw should be a fun to watch.
