http://www.hornetsports.com/sports/football/release.asp?release_id=10636OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State junior Osagie Odiase was selected as the Big Sky ROOT SPORTS Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Odiase during his career.
In the Hornets' 28-17 win over Northern Colorado, Odiase led the team with a career high 11 tackles, including a tackle-for-loss. The cornerback also played a part in two of Sacramento State's four turnovers, recovering a fumble in the first quarter and intercepting a pass in the third. His fumble recovery directly led to the Hornets' opening touchdown of the game. The Santa Fe Springs, Calif., native also had three pass breakups against the Bears.
I knew he had a much better game last week than in week 2 but wow. Well done. I honestly have no idea why UNC kept challenging our best cover corner. Lobato kept trying to force it to Jace Davis but Odiase had him locked up pretty well. He pretty much shut down his side of the field last week. Keep it going Hornets!!!
