I think most of us would agree that the Cats biggest question mark this season is the OL.

We know that our skill positions should be fine. No, Weber doesn't really have a guy who can extend the field like Collins or Phillips could, but Weber does have some really solid WRs in Johnson, Kehano, Nakamura, and Walker. Not to mention there are a couple of RS Fresh/Fresh who could participate as well. We all know the backfield is stacked with three RBs who each could rush for over 100 a game. Maybe, the Cats could move Collins from the backfield and have him play as a WR sometimes. He could pull some double duty.

Along with the OL, our FB and TEs are a little thin, that is a slight area of concern, but Jankow, Crosgrove and Clemente are a good balance at TE. Of course our QB is solid. Who is our FB right now? Didn't Jankow play some at the FB position this spring?

Yes, there is talent on the line, but not a lot of depth, thankfully, our line is fairly experienced with Tytan, and Jiniki coming back. Also, Shelton Robinson, Austin Butler, Ged Carrington, and Alex Land all are lettermen. I'm under the impression that Land will be the starting C? In a pinch Weber can have Veteson Sauni, Justin Turner, and Cash Knight, play lineman. Also, the Cats have added Kaesey Child and Alex Jones to the roster along with Joe Hawkins, Austin Mikkelson, Cameron Young, Maxwell Curtis, Yuraaj Madra, and Duncan Farnsworth (he is automatic mission though) from the Feb. signing period. I know before Lucifer left, that he was thinking of adding a couple of other OL this summer to the roster, a WR who could extend the field (he talked about a guy the track team had signed as being a football player too) LB, and a FB.

Starters at OL

Tytan Timeteo
Jiniki Timeteo
Alex Land
Austin Butler
Geddes Carrington/Shelton Robinson

The Cats OL is thin? Uh, that could be the understatment of the decade. Thin is a positive descrition of the state of the OL. Yes, there is enough talent there to really make it special, but we lose 1 or 2 at anytime, it'll make things very difficult for the Wildcat offense.

There isn't a C listed on the official roster (can't really judge things by that, I don't think Weber updates rosters till the season is two or three weeks old, haha), and right now there are only 8 OL, two who are new. I guess Cash Knight and Veteson Sauni can play both sides, they did during Spring Ball, but Sauni is a big Cat needed on the defensive side. What about Justin Turner? I thought he played some OL last fall. Now he is being listed as a DE. He has the height for OT. Just saying. It's going to be interesting. Hopefully the coaches can bring in a couple of OL this summer for camp. If not, our new freshmen OL will be getting a lot of reps and have some pressure on their shoulders automatically.

Definetely hoping for an injury-less year

That would be nice for all Wildcat Sports. It seems lately, that the athletic department has been stung by injuries. Lets definitely hope that the line doesn't get struck.

I agree although 'injury free' would be a miracle. hopefully each team member is working their butts off this summer because the clock is ticking...... if we can put all the ingredients (and we have the ingredients) together, this could be a very, very, special season.

GO CATS

This guy might provide some depth for your O line

Looks like a nice addition for the Cats. Someone who can help the OL immediately. It says that Tyrone originally signed with Army, what happened? I'm glad that Weber has him now.

Any confirmation that he's actually coming to WSU? Rivals/West Point articles indicate he was at the Army prep school last year. Assume he decided not to enter West Point. Articles say he originally chose Army over a preferred walk on to Florida. Hopefully he'll live up to that billing.

Any other transfers?

As of right now, he is the only late transfer I know of. One of the coaches confirmed to me that he is coming (no names were used only places). Yet, I'm sure there will be others. I was told that two fresh (one from FL and the other from Cali) could start right away, and that jiniki should be eligible by the end of summer term. Also two or three DL reserves could be used. So the OL should be fine.

Did the coach say that one of them would be starters? Or be able to compete, right away, for a starting gig?

To me at least, it seems that Joe Hawkins, Cameron Young, or Yuvraaj Madra could play right away. Is Maxwell Curtis a mission kid? He is from Southernish Idaho. I don't know if he is or isn't, but if he is, it would make sense.

Shelton Robinson ------- Ged Carrington
Alex Land ------- Austin Butler
Joe Hawkins
Jiniki Timeteo------- Yuvraaj Madra/Cameron Young
Tytan Timeteo ------- Justin Turner

Maxwell Curtis is not a mission kid (I am his dad). He is from Meridian, Idaho and played for Mountain View High School. Max is 6' 5 and has been hitting the weight room diligently since basketball season ended. He now weighing in at a lean 265. He is home now for the next week, but has been in Ogden the past month working out with the team in the right OT position. He is excited and eager to play. We shall see after fall camp whether they redshirt him or not. As a newly-minted fan, I am also excited about the upcoming season.

Welcome to the forum! :thumb:

Just saw that Tyson Tiatia is back and is expected to participate in camp.

Makes our line that much stronger:

TE: Jankow
OT: Robinson
OG: Land
C: Tiatia
OG: Butler
OT: Timateo

QB: Hoke
FB: Tolutau
RB: Booker/Tuckett

WR: Johnson
WR: Kehano

Now if the DL could end up getting stronger.

DL has plenty of Defensive Ends, but it's the tackles I worry about. We have four and probably need to get a couple of guys playing other positions on the team to play there if needed. Perhaps, Curtis Cosgrove, Allen Matthews, maybe one of the new OL guys. Who knows. I wouldn't want to move James Washington to tackle, but he is one of the bigger DE's, but right now I have him starting at DE. Oh, Jordan Main is on the roster as an OL, but he could play the DT too. He is at 255/260 right now. Need a little more depth at that position. It was one of the deepest positions at the end of last year, now, not so much.

That's a solid starting group with lots of experience. The biggest concern this year won't be with the starters but with the reserves. The team is young and isn't very deep. Hope we can avoid the injury bug. And great to see Tiatia back.

Agreed...our starters are solid and experienced, but there really isn't a lot of experience with the second string. Talent, yet, but not a lot of experience. I have no idea who the back up Center would be. My guess for our 2nd string is below.

TE: Cosgrove (Clemente is better suited in the slot or on receiving plays, even though Jankow has excellent hands)
OT: Justin Turner/Yuvraaj Madra
OG: Cameron Young
C: Joe Hawkins
OG: Ged Carrington/Tyrone Brown
OT: Cash Knight/Max Curtis

Jordan Main is listed as an OL, but is really a DT.

QB: Jordan Adamczyk
FB: Allen Matthew
RB: Chris Parham/Karl Finai

WR: Chase Nakamura
WR: Eric Walker
