The WSU Purple Pak will be meeting at the Alumni Center at 5:30 in the AM on Saturday, October 25th to head to Flagstaff, Arizona. For any fans interested, $25 will get you there and back again. The small fee will cover the trip, hotel and game ticket. The Purple Pak will supply food on the bus for the way there and back. So the only out-of-pocket other than the $25 will be for dinner (or late lunch) for both days.

Breakfast will be served at the hotel Sunday morning starting at 6:30 AM. After you eat all you can, board the bus at 8 to head home. The estimated arrival time back to Ogden is Sunday, 6 PM.

To sign up just head over to the Alumni Center and ask for Bev Rudd and reserve your seat or give Bev a ring:

The university is chipping in a few thousand dollars to make the trip as affordable as possible for students or any fans interested in going

NAU's Jack Pack is going to give us coupons to go eat at Buffalo Wild Wings!

We are staying at the Hotel Aspen located on 1008 E. Route 66, 1/4 mile from the NAU. Their phone number is 928-774-7356.

Thats awesome to get mentioned in the SLTRIB!!!

NAU recommendations:

Beaver Street Brewery (worked there and was a consistent patron) by the tracks s. of Route 66 on 11 S. Beaver Street ..... brew pub fare....pizza, pasta, sandwiches, tasty microbrew....never got tired of it even after grubbing around in kitchen for a year

Mountain Oasis 11 E. Aspen Ave healthy/hippie fare but tasty

Mike and Ronda's 21 S. Milton (close to railroad trestle by Rt. 66).... probably the best breakfast bargain... mountains of grease to fill your bellies and kill off the foulest of hangovers....I truly miss this place

three Thai restaurants round town....all good....Dara Thai is my favorite

Mexican...favorite was La Fonda 1900 N. 2nd St....damn, I miss good Mexican food....the ketchup that's passed off as salsa on average up here offends me

The Black Bean Burrito (downtown) 12 E. Route 66 # 104 in the little plaza by Flagstaff Brewing Company right off Rt. 66 wraps of all different varieties.....loved this place

Yee uh! It sounds like you know what Flarstaff is like. What makes NAU famous?

I'll answer the question you asked and one you didn't ask.

What makes NAU famous?
Recently, I'd have to say Lopez Lomong carrying the flag for the United States at the opening ceremonies of the Beijing Olympics. Being located at 7,000 feet plus elevation, it is one of the highest (take this as you may as the Grateful Dead and Phish fans reign supreme round town) colleges apart from maybe the U of Wyoming and Fort Lewis in Durango, CO. The High Altitude Training Center on campus that caters to olympic level athletes. I don't know....am I missing something painfully obvious here?

What makes Flagstaff famous?
Location, location, location. The Grand Canyon is an hour plus northwest of town. Sedona is an hour south. Lots of tourism. Multiple scenes in "Forrest Gump" and "Easy Rider" were filmed in town. Route 66 is the famous cross country journey through choice Americana. The occasional feeling one can get that they got caught in a time warp and are sitting on a street corner in Haight Ashbury neighborhood of San Francisco in 1968. Lots of hippies. Ted Danson, who played Sam the bartender from the old tv show "Cheers", grew up up there. Hell, without cheating and looking on the internet I'm running out of ideas here.

Enjoy Flagstaff. Hopefully the locals will treat the Purple Pak crew hospitably.

MT Jack

word has it we are now taking 2 buses and 3 seats left...
If there are still seats on the bus I emailed Bev to reserve 2... so that would leave 1 left.

I just got an email from Bev, the buses are already full, so unless 2 spots open up I will be watching the game from home.

For real? Even the Band's bus doesn't have 2 seats??

I can't believe we can't get anyone to go to home games yet everyone wants to go to NAU which is 10 hrs away and costs money! We need wsucatfan on the bus, he is a legit fan!

Did Bev say anything about the other bus? What about the 2 WSU Ford Expeditions? Are they full? They have 14 seats...

Bev, join this forum and update us!

I don't know dude. I don't think wsucatfan would want to ride with the band. If he did, he would be miserable, but misery well spent. I don't remember this happening EVER!!! Taking a bus to an away football game? I Love it!
