Major corruption scandal. Adidas involved. Seth Davis calls this an atomic bomb dropped on college basketball.

WOW!!! Well...I think it is safe to say that each of those schools will be penalized by the NCAA. Hell, they will end up being penalized by the U.S. Justice System. Can't hide it when the FBI is involved or, as the NCAA so often does, sweep it under the rug. But really, should we be surprised that Rick Pitino is involved?

Will this affect Weber? Probably not. Adidas will cut lose Gatto (I'm sure they were aware of his activities) and claim he was doing this on his own. There will be added scrutiny of course, but Weber is a small school. It could, actually, increase the amount being given to Weber. Maybe Adidas gives a monetary donation to some of its "smaller" associates as a show of good faith to the Justice Department. Weber could end up being one of those schools. P5 stupidity could end up being a windfall for mid majors.

I find it interesting that the NCAA is claiming ignorance on the subject. They have been pretending that this problem wasn't there, with P5 schools, for the last 50 years. They have been okay with all the payoffs as long as it only happens with the big boys. Let a mid major program do anything close to that and the book would be thrown at them. Of course the NCAA is claiming ignorance. Otherwise, they would be complicit. This whole thing is really nothing new. The only new thing is the FBI accountants are now involved and the NCAA can no longer look the other way. I'm sure that there are a lot of people running to hide under a rock somewhere.

This seems pretty complex and far reaching. You can't tell me that it is just Adidas, these schools and coaches. It appears that these blue chip kids know what the going rate is. Adidas couldn't have been just competing for these kids with themselves. http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/20834050/the-story-how-fbi-brought-words-corruption
