We lose 23-20 on a field goal with no time on the clock. We were leading 20-17 and stopped the Rams on a huge 3rd down at our 19 yard line. They kick the field goal to tie the game.

We get the ball back with about 1:30 to go. But Wilkins fumbles at our 22 yard line. The Rams take it down to their six yard line and kick the FG.

Great game by the Hornets. Even though it hurts to lose, they played their guts out. The players and coaches need to take the positives out of this and not dwell on the loss.

Guys, I'm here in Ft.Collins, saw everything with my own two eyes, and Sac State absolutely lost this game.

Washington dropped a sure TD in the first half that should have had Sac up 17-7,and then Evander fumbles. We were really hurt by the loss of Hillard. He was gouging the rams all day, hopefully he's not out too long. J.Smith also missed a couple of passes in the first half on the drive that resulted in the field goal. He had #17 for a td but threw outside instead of in.

Had a great time...should have won, but this should be a momentum builder. Like I said, Sac dominated this game andthe CSU fans admitted as much after the game.

I'm gonna go get drunk in downtown Ft. Collins and wear my Hornet gear with pride!!!

While I agree with OH in another thread that I don't like "moral victories," that CSN writer had better be eating some serious crow over this one. But knowing punks like him, at best he'll gloss over it and at worst he'll ignore it or claim that the refs screwed CSU.

In any case, it sounds like the Hornets played a great game but just didn't finish. I'm sure that Sperbeck will fix that in time for Homecoming. BTW, I'm planning on going to Homecoming. Hope to see you guys there.

Wow, to be this close to a FBS program at their house and altitude, really demonstrates how far Coach Sperbeck and the program have grown. Give props also to the President and others who have stepped up support of the program. I think it was a helluva game.

We gotta stayed focued and prepare for the next game, can't let S. Oregon sneak up on us.

Any major injuries?

Hilliard hurt but don't know how bad. The hornets looked great to keep in this game and on paper dominated the rams. Returning home for 3 straight hope we get some fans. Anyone have suggestions as to how to rally support, our team plays much better with lots of fans and our fans need to be into the game. Our fans just like to be there, no cheering. Quiet don't get it done for me! Football game are all about being loud, the louder the fans the better the team plays! I am new to this site but have been reading for a while thought it was time to add a reply or two. I want to find out how to rally support and fans and need help to find out how to get media support as well as loud bodies in the seats!

All I can say is WOW... The game was ours! I'm reporting the team being very disappointed and disgruntled over the loss. I'm hoping that they can just let it go and move on to the next game. With this, I hope we put fear in every team we play this year. We TRULY ARE BIG SKY CONTENDERS.

As for Hilliard's injury, I'll have that update and more for you guys by the end of the day.

While the missed opportunity is disappointing, the fact that we were in a position to win is incredible progress. If we carry that level of play through the season, we'll be just fine. Great job by the coaches and the players.

Yes this hurts, but I'm so proud of our guys. I'm so proud to be a Sacramento State Hornet! We are now a force to be reckoned with this year.

Go Hornets!

From the HOMER in Hornetville, Great Job. You made us proud. Keep your heads held high. It's only the beginning. Bigger and brighter things are ahead of us. Wow is right!!!!
